Also im curious on what this will do to altcoins like litecoin, their strenght is the faster and cheaper transaction. Bitcoin will have these strenghts then too.

Lightning is mostly already priced in, and some part of the last year's growth can be attributed to SegWit and Lightning progress, as they demonstrate that Bitcoin keeps improving, despite the false claims of altcoiners that it's "outdated" and "broken". Lightning's development is a pretty public process, so some very savvy investors will be buying more and more as Lightning gets closer and closer to official release, so don't expect a huge price surge during the event, it will most likely be just a small bump, like it happened with the halvening. After that the growth of LN and its user will be contributing to the price growth, but it will be a slow and steady process.

bitcoin will skyrocket again before Lightning Network is broadly adopted, then it will skyrocket again when LN is adopted.... that will take years. it is not something that can happen in a couple of months. but the bitcoin rally can come a lot sooner than that. we have already hit the bottom, you can't expect price to stay at the bottom for years!

i disagree, the money that is in altcoins will remain there because the reason why it is there is to make profit. that money is mostly bitcoin. in other words people are investing their bitcoins in pump and dumps shitcoins like BCH, ETH, XRP, DASH,... to earn more bitcoin. even newbies who are losing money there are there because of the hope of the profit and the false promises.

The Lightning Network <LN> will forever change the scaling limitations that Bitcoin had in the past. It is already taking momentum and a lot of Software developers are writing new and very innovative applications that are based on the LN.

Alt coins like LiteCoin will still survive, because it is very similar to Bitcoin. Some of the other Alt coins like Bitcoin Cash will fade away, because it did not implement SegWit and it has huge scaling problems that cannot be solved with bigger Block sizes.

Other Alt coins like Dash and Monero with better anonymity features will also survive, because they have a specific target market.

When will it be? I don't think it will just happen instantly. There will be process for this LN to become usable globally.

Why do care with the no-coiners? Let them stick to what they believe.

Since bitcoin is open source program, probably these alt coins can also adopt the LN. It's just whoever will become successful in implementing LN.

Speculation doesn't care too much of the development, as long as there's one. Lightning Network sounds great, but there's still a lot of work to be done to see it a stable network everybody can use.
Let's hope that Bitcoin will recover before LN, okay?

What is the meaning that you saying that it's a good for you as of now? Or this is your opportunity to buy bitcoin in a lower price? Yes that's right most of people here are saying that before the end of the year it will recover and will be more expensive. Lighting network can be affect the price of bitcoin to rise, well let see what will happen in this coming few months.

If there's nothing more than just cheap and fast transactions, then the future looks bleak for LN.

It will make sure that the flaw which became obvious in dec 2017 will be gone. Many people i know reject bitcoin simply because they do not want to wait this long ("i can use wire in this case") and because they think its too expensive (they only heared about it once it was like 15$ for a TXn).
Now of course we all know it better but these "simple users" as we might call them diplomatically are those who enter a lot of volume.
Once they know "instand + fees so low it doesnt matter" they will come back.

Also the instant payment will make this more compatible for fast trades like payment at a grocery store or whatever.

i don't know about skyrocketing just because of LN but what OP means is that LN is an improvement, it is offering something new that wasn't possible for bitcoin. with LN you can now have instant irreversible transactions, micro transactions, with virtually no fees. and it is making a level of scaling possible that was not possible any other way. this can make bitcoin process more TPS than any other centralized payment processor like VISA that people keep comparing bitcoin to sometimes.

that opens up a lot more possibilities for bitcoin as a currency, so it increases its adoption by a lot which in turn leads to price rise.

LN is not a sole feature of bitcoin.. so.. altcoins like litecoin will also have bitcoins stuff. plus the things bitcoin doesnt.
you mentioned litecoin, so lets talk about that
litcoin, = segwit ltc1q addresses, litecoin using LN, litecoins faster blocktimes, litcoins cheaper onchain fee's, litcoins statistically higher than 7tx/s
 
seems too many people are hanging onto bitcoins viability IF LN arrives.. problem is. all other coins will get to use LN too. so bitcoin wont have a feature that only benefits bitcoin.

its like shouting "myspace will soon include playing videos on peoples profiles yeppie!!............ oh wait facebook, googlplus will also do this"..


dont hold all your hopes onto LN. its just a crypto side service for ALL coins. instead stop kissing devs asses for making people have to lock coins into multisig vaults to then use a service which then promotes that its cheaper to use.. and then if wantiing to settle, cheaper and faster to settle on an altcoin like litecoin..
many pople THAT ACTUALLY USE LN (not just read the reddit promotions) have run scenarios and found flaws. and also seen that once inside LN, returning back to bitcoins mainnet sems less appealing than alternatives. .. that includes the devs themselves

when devs themselves are literally screaming bitcoins mainnet cant scale, its slow and no longer innovative.. (yes they are the cause of the stagnation of innovation) you need to take a step back and really think about what has changed since 2013 and then run some actual scenarios... not just read utopian adverts on reddit

and then.. kick (kick not kiss) the dev's asses to get back to innovating bitcoins mainnet instead of these corporate side services

Dont agree with you. Lightning network is a process not an instant move. BTC doesnt look it will hit 20-25k soon. I think bitcoin will do real move in the end of 2019 and 2020. Lightning network adoption will take time. Be patient buy bitcoin
