Due to overwhelming community response and our ongoing determination to make KittehCoin the best coin, we have integrated the
Kimoto Gravity Well algorithm into KittehCoin's difficulty adjustment code. We have also advanced the hard-fork point from
131,913 to
126,250. This is when the new coin spec announced weeks ago will kick in, the fork height was advanced after
much deliberation. This was done by request of the community and out of pure common-sense, it is what is best for the coin. The fork needs to happen for the new spec and KGW to kick in thus we want it to happen ASAP.
KittehCoin-Qt v0.8.6.2 w/KGW Linux - (build from source)
Mac OSX 10.9+ - download
Windows XP, Vista, 7, 8 - download
For this to work we need the community to help us out. This is a "pre release" because we need to saturate the network with the new client before the hard fork block. We have already been having pool operators upgrade. We will be making the "official release" tomorrow with additional news and updates about the advancements the KittehCoin team has made in a number of different initiatives.
For now, we just need everyone who can, to update their wallets. Especially Pool Owners. As with anytime you update your wallet please backup your entire data directory prior to updating. Your data dir can be found at (copy this folder somewhere to backup, do not move it to back it up):
Linux - /home/<username>/.kittehcoin/
Mac - /Users/<username>/Library/Application Support/KittehCoin
Windows XP -- C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Application Data\KittehCoin
Windows Vista, 7, 8 -- C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\KittehCoin
After you've backed up your data directory simply run the new wallet for your appropriate OS. You may notice the new wallet "reindexing the blockchain" this is normal, let it do it's thing. All your coins will be just as they were last time you ran the old wallet. If you open the help>about menu you should see 'v0.8.6.2-unk-beta'. You're all set!
If there are any issues please contact us, we are on email, twitter, and IRC and here to help.
Please update as soon as possible. We will have binaries for Mac 10.7+ tomorrow, tonight we only have the binary for Mac 10.9+. These are now also posted on our official site. Please let us know if you have any questions. Thanks again for your support and promptness in updating!
TL;DR;- Download the new wallet! Mac 10.7 and 10.8 wallets coming tomorrow
