Sorry if there is already a topic about this, but there has recently been a new update on this story, so I'm making a new one.

Reddit user 'Windows7733' recently made a topic on Reddit, saying that someone donated 0.5 Nano to him, which was almost an entire month's salary.
He used it to buy food for himself and his relatives.

Now after this story broke out, he has since then been able to buy a whopping 300KG of food for the people around him.
He's receiving more Nano every day, so soon he'll be able to buy even more food.

Check out the topics here:

Very interesting story to say the least.

This is quite interest and it is a good gesture. This will even bring more popularity to nano. I feel the crypto space is gradually affecting lives positively through a scheme like this. This is more of giving back to the community, which is a good one.
Thanks for bringing this up.

Yeah I agree that it's great advertising for Nano, while it's also making a real impact on the people living in Venezuela.
More crypto projects should do stuff like this, as long as the recipients can get verified somehow, so the money doesn't fall into the wrong hands.

I like the fact that pictures have been posted on that thread, really showing the amount of food that has been bought.

Cryptocurrency is affecting our lives in different ways.
Especially in a country like venezuela, where inflation is high, crypto-currencies are more useful when the legal tender is worthless.

Well, there it has a measurable impact, since people are literally surviving off of crypto, as shown in those 2 links.

Looks like Nano has also made an official project supporting Venezuelans, they have a pretty achievable goal of raising 1700 dollars.

There are also talks in the Nano subreddit of 'adopting' families in Venezuela, to help pay for food etc.
Mind you that one or two dollars worth of cryptocurrency, could mean a week's worth of food for these families.
