Short vs Long Term Altcoin Investment/Mining

Defining terms as follows

Short term = <60 days

Long term = >180 days

x = whatever you deem reasonable

Does the possibility of huge gains justify sinking x amount of BTC into long term investments?

This question applies to miners as well. Would you commit x % of mining resources for x amount of days/weeks/months on a long term investment in hopes of one day selling for 10, 100, or even 1000 times current price?


Hybrid of both = Sell after say 50-300% profit setting aside x% for long term investment
