Though the online e-commerce pioneer stopped short of integrating bitcoin into its digital wallet or payment processing services directly, the move marks PayPal's first formal offering to the bitcoin community. In a blog post penned by senior director of corporate strategy Scott Ellison, PayPal revealed that online merchants will now be able to accept bitcoin via all three companies through its PayPal Payments Hub, its product that enables customers to accept credit cards, mobile carrier payments and other payment methods through a single integration. PayPal is available in 193 markets and 26 currencies. With 143 million active registered accounts and $6.6bn in revenue at the end of 2013, the e-commerce giant brings the potential for new users and new business to the bitcoin economy. https://www.coindesk.com

PayPal Filed a Patent to Speed Up Crypto Payments, Bitcoin Dev Argues It Already Exists PayPal has filed a patent to speed up cryptocurrency transaction times by eliminating the verification time of payments. Bitcoin expert argues that this is already made possible through existing technologies in the cryptocurrency industry. On March 5, 2018, Cointelegraph reported that PayPal filed a patent with the US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) for a technology that is supposed to speed up cryptocurrency payments through the utilization of secondary wallets. Essentially, PayPal seeks to optimize the process of settling cryptocurrency payments between merchants and buyers, on retail or e-commerce platforms. The secondary wallets of users, as described in the official patent, would allow the unique private keys of buyers and sellers to be transferred behind the scenes, to prevent every transaction from being included in blocks and broadcasted to the public Blockchain. https://cointelegraph.com/news

Wow, this sounds like fantastic news! With a dedicated partnership between coinbase and PayPal, there is sure to be more trust centered around Bitcoin. The more people that begin to adopt it, the higher the market value will grow.

No they are two separate companies. In my eyes, partnerships are useless.I mean, yeah PayPal is now Coinbase/BitPay partner,so what?Don't forget that it doesn't mean that Paypal will adopt Bitcoin or other cryptocurrencies, the proof is that a partnership was already announced 4 years ago as some of you said. Edit: It's not even an official statement;I would be really pleasantly surprised if it's real

This is a good news for Bitcoiners and cryptocurrencies supporters. Personally I use Neteller because it accepts Bitcoin deposits via Bitpay which makes exchanging BTC to FIAT very easy and doesn't tax high fees. If PayPal start accepting Bitcoin deposits then the price will skyrocket.

Maybe I will believe it if it will come from PayPal itself. I don't fully believe the news if it only came from cointelegraph and no confirmation from the subject itself. But this news is better than FUD. I hope that PayPal will release their statement about it.

PayPal was always against the crypto currency and never recognized it, but now it seems that PayPal has surrendered and realized that the crypto currency will make it more competition and therefore decided to cooperate.

This is good, If paypal starts to accept BTC as a payment method then that I think the prices would go up, Paypal is one of the most used wallets out there, it really is good to see that they are in partnerships with Coinbase and the other ones, I think that people will also start to recognize cryptocurrency as well, this is just good news, and I am looking forward for this to happen.
