That might be the case which have happened few times and to be frank there are not many people who does that or have the patience for 5 years or something. If someone is saying this about the BTC then it is all right because BTC can be held for such long time but this is not the case with altcoins in particular. For any single trader the 5 years of period is huge, and in todays date there is surely no one who will hold their coins for such big period. The reason is simple and true one, atlcoins are too fluctuating one these days and you never know what will come up front in the future. The coins may get scammed, go to zero volume, drop in the investor base, no project development etc. These are the possibilities that can not be ignored. So no, long term trades with a year of period is okay but not that long.

That really is a great strategy. That suggests that long-term investment strategies are very good. I always believed that. We can know about it in well-known investors like Warren Buffett. short-term investment is more risky and time consuming.

I have an account on several exchange sites, because they have different coin volumes. when I am interested in one coin I tend to see the volume in coinmarketcap and choose an exchange that has the largest volume, because in my opinion this is important considering the more transactions in the exchange. in a lot of transactions I just took a little profit because of value fluctuations in a few days, but for coin-coins that have a big community, it is more worthy for the long term.

so far, my trade is good and still making money although it's not bigger. I still trying to earn more profit by buying and selling the coins in the market and I know that it will difficult because there are too many coins that can increase in anytime. but I don't buy too many coins and only focus on one or two coins especially if the price can increase higher so I can prepare to place the sell order. I am still loyal to local exchangers, and sometimes see the potential for arbitrage to a larger market, I try to make accounts on several popular exchanges with better volume considerations, local exchangers do not have subjective volumes and sometimes tend to be lower or higher than another.
