How does trading plateforms calculate percent change ?

Here is the formula:




%delta is the percent change.

Xt is the exchange rate in the current period (t).

Xt – i is the exchange rate in the previous period (t – i), where "i" can be yesterday, last month, last year, or ten years ago.

For example:
Current bitcoin price: 6430$
Last day at the same moment: 6100$

Percent change = (6430 - 6100 / 6100 ) * 100

Percent change = 3.77%
