if i do i would try to go for another 1070ti or maybe save a little more for a 1080ti, also i am hearing the new GPUs are coming out around august or just after so should i buy now or wait?

Yes, a good time to buy coins. This is also a good time to sell gpus cause it will probably be useless in few weeks. The only thing holding profitability is ethash, once is gone then gpu mining is gone. Pay attention to that, you will burn heavily if any of you invest in gpus right now. Well there smart guys and idiots everywhere.

If you like investments with a payback of 1.5-3 years, then welcome to mining Smiley In the fall of 2018, we are promised an announcement of new video cards. At the same time, the market will be the orgimous number of asics on the algorithm of Etnash.

You're late for a couple of years with investments Smiley

These prices are not quite right but is a close call at moment.

The rx 570 from $150 - to $700. That is how stupid mining was.

The cost of electricity for mining ETH is still less than the cost of buying the coins

I guess you are not an investor cause it looks like you dont think like one, i will try to explain, buying a card cost $300, if you pay $0.10 per kwh which is amazing cause worldwide average price is $0.24, roi is https://whattomine.com/coins/151-eth-ethash?utf8=%E2%9C%93&hr=30&p=130&fee=2&cost=0.1&hcost=300&commit=Calculate , 430 days only the card, motherboard + cpu and psu + other things combined takes that up to 700 days or more which is 2 years, now if you take that money and buy the coin and eth is pumped 50% then you might get that return in few minutes without hassle at all, so is it better to get that money in few minutes or in 2 years?, you trolls must use your head, now if roi was less than 80 days then yes, this market is very volatile, prices rise and crash all the ime, so buying and selling coins give a return of thousand times more than mining.

That does not mean it's better to mine.  You have to recover your capital equipment cost and that takes forever in today's market conditions. By the time  you recover equipment cost your GPU will be way outdated to mine profitable unless you have solar or 6 cent electricity.

Way better to buy coins or buy capitulated used gpus if they are half off

this is very useful thank you  Wink

also thanks for the input so far guys, i`ve heard a few points about buying coins instead of mining and yeah sounds like its way faster to ROI like that, but i kind of enjoy messing with PCs building them maintaining them etc so i would feel more inclined to mine then buy, but having heard some of your points i might buy a few coins and see how it goes, any idea what coins doing good atm? last time i looked into it i heard RVN was doing good but not sure atm what everyone is hyped on

Unless you’ve already paid off your mining cards, like a LOT of people have, and just mining and holding.

And you think like someone who doesn’t have a clue about mining and/or hasn’t paid off his mining rig from the bubble.

Images and tables like these paint a clear picture of why people should start selling their GPUs. I've found that using real examples is the best way to convince someone of something. That being said, this then should make it clear that now is VERY BAD time to buy GPUs. Buying coins? Maybe. But definitely it is clear that buying mining hardware now is a big NO NO.

bullshit    they are cheaper so buy them.

under the following reason you have dirt cheap power.

now if you don't have cheap power don't buy them.

also be able to do another buy if they drop lower next month.

once again you need dirt cheap power to follow this advice.

if your power is not cheap do not buy gpu's

please don't tell people to not buy gear

tell people to not buy gear if they spend more ethen 8 cents a kwatt  full price of 8 cents includes cooling and all power from power company.

You forgot to mention "dump 50%" situation after "investment" in coin.

Basically like what everybody said here already.

You might be better off just buying the coin directly like ETH or ZEC. Right now most of these alts including Bitcoins are at yearly lows, so price is still cheap.

Since you have saved up alot of $ and want another GPU. You should maybe try eBay or Craigslist and see if you can buy some second hand.

There are many people that want out of the mining business and you might be able to get an RX 470 for cheap.

Becareful with the 1060 3GB, they are not able to mine ETH anymore and hence the reason why the price is so cheap for them and why they are for sale everywhere.

They do mine ETH unless you deliberately choose a flawed OS. Currently epoch 199(2.55GB).
But more than 3GB is safer for the future since memory size seems to be the current "solution" to make algos harder for ASICs.
I currently mine BTG (Equihash 144,5) on some 1050 with 2GB VRAM, but will that be possible 6 months from now, I don't know but probably not.

right now some GPU prices are pretty low, but last month they were VERY low, and have started to come back up again, i saw a MSI 1070ti new from retail websites for around £420 (bought mine in january for £480) prices seem to went a bit up right now. seems alot of people are saying not to waste money buying a card but does that mean DO NOT BUY THE NEW GPU when it comes out?? since that would be like 10x the speed of old cards it seems a good opportunity to buy that GPU when its released.

Also i live in the UK and pay 0.21pence per kw electric is shit here

I live in Russia. The cost of 1 kW of electricity in our country £0,042 or cheaper (Village tariff-for the rural population a discount of up to 30%)  Smiley
At us even 1070Ti costs more cheaply, but if to take in Germany that it is possible to save 10-15% of cost. Here is bought a lot of miners https://www.computeruniverse.ru
At such prices for video cards and electricity, I would not mining in UK Cheesy
