The marketcap is basically the same for as long as I can remember so no, it's not going anywhere. The idea of a decentralized social media website is good but Steemit is poorly designed.

I have read an article by a facebook official who claimed that they are also seriously looking into blockchain technology and its implementation into their platform, so i think steemit cannot take place of fb for many years to come, fb has millions of users and that is what makes it above them all.

Steemit has nothing to do with Facebook. Steemit is a blogging platform and Facebook is a website where people upload photos to share with their friends and family. In any case, the question to ask would be if Steemit can become as popular as, for example, Wordpress. In any case, the answer would be no.

Facebook is not easy to replace, because there are hundreds of millions of users. Moreover, Facebook is social networking, and steemit looks like a blog.

I do not think so that steemit take place of facebook. Facebook is so big and they have the money to use the blockchain properly. I believe steemit will have no chance against facebook. With or without blockchain.

Steemit it's looks like Reddit same Blog platform. Don't compare the two platform because it's different. Facebook can't really handle the blockchain technology as far as i know.

no it won'e be able to do it because the coin may have traces of decentralization but the platform that it has is completely centralized. it is still a website controlled by someone that you have to visit and post. so people won't give up the good old Facebook for another centralized platform which doesn't offer anything better and is filled with spammers wanting to make money from it.

I think the chances are slim because facebook is also working on blockchain technology. Facebook attaches great importance to block chain technology, so Steemit is difficult to surpass facebook

I think steemit cannot take over facebook. It is simply because facebook has so many users all around the world unlike steemit which only used by the people who only knows about cryptocurrencies' technology, we all know that facebook sometimes ban some crypto advertisements in their websites but it doesn't mean that it can be replaced by steemit in terms of advertising products or projects to the public.

I think Facebook will do well in all directions. Including in the blockchain. Facebook has a strong team led by Zuckerberg. He will not allow a backlog in Facebook!

I doubt it. I like Steemit but so far it's been advancing too slowly, they seem more focused on their blockchain rather than Steemit. Should be able to do both.

Steemit can become a competitor for Blogspot or WordPress maybe. But it's quite a different field from Facebook and it's very far from taking its place. But even for reaching near the success of WordPress there's still an awfully lot more to grow.

It is not realistic to think steemit is capable of replacing Facebook. They are so different in many terms, Facebook is a social media for making friends and communicating with them, but steemit is a platform for content creators looking to monetize their work. On Steemit users cannot send private messages among themselves and everything is public, so I don't believe the two platforms should be in the same categories.
However, there are a few blockchain projects out there hoping to disrupt the social media industry through the blockchain. Media Protocol is one of them.

I don't think steemit would be able to replace facebook.
Facebook will most likely be adopting the blockchain technology by then. They have been on the news eyeing on the blockchain technology.
They have the resources and will not allow to be replaced by steemit in the ranks.

Yes, I agree with you because they are two different thinks entirely and the more people use facebook, the larger it becomes and this is a platform that is needed for promotion of a project because it has a large crowd and it is also very easy to spread a news there as long as it is well written and marketed. Steemit cannot take place of facebook in future because facebook will continue to grow and they will also appreciate the blockchain technology.

Steemit isn't even competing with FB, to do so they're gonna +2 billion active users every month to actually become a serious competitor. And just because Steemit uses a blockchain-based platform doesn't mean it will overtake Facebook. Also, don't underestimate Facebook, they have enough resources to adopt the blockchain techonology into their platform in the blink of an eye.

I think it is not impossible to see steemit more popular than facebook in the future. But I think it is unlikely to happen in a near future. If the crypto get more popular in the future, the popularity of steemit can rise greatly.

Well i don't think so because both facebook and steemit are different platforms. Facebook is a social platform and steemit is a free blogging site. More to the point steemit does not tolerate plagiarism at all but we know that most people who participate in facebook and twitter copy the posts of others just to share on their profiles for stakes.

Like everybody is saying, Steemit is completely different than Facebook, but I do want to somewhat answer your question. I do think Steemit has a pretty bright future ahead, especially when they launch their Smart Media Tokens.
Now, I wouldn't count that much on Steemit itself becoming vastly more popular, but there will be numerous new dapps that will be running on Steem. Dtube is a good example, but it wil become much better than that.
I personally just try to post as much on there as possible, just to get a decent investment going there once SMT's are launched.
