What is the cost of building an ICO website?

After working with dozens of ICO’s in the last few months at GuerrillaBuzz
I can estimate the average website costs for an ICO from

5000$-20,000$.

I actually noticed that many ICO’s have a cheap WordPress template website and talk about changing the world with their idea.

As an ICO, the way you look is extremely important. You don’t have anything yet besides an idea.

If you want people to get your idea fast, you need to have a great design, smart branding, and a great user experience.

Many ICO’s ignore the design, buying a cheap WordPress design and that looks exactly like 9 out of 10 projects out there.

When it comes to the way your website looks, take someone professional, put a lot of thought into the message you want to deliver, and how you want the visitors to remember you.

Are you offering website design, or just making a standard post questioning/explaining the value of a ICO site?

Maybe I could see the lower end of that.   Certainly you need a designer that is top notch - but that should be 2-3K, right?  And the person that implements it, you will want to have someone who has solid wordpress skills on staff.  Yes, they would need to be paid for their time, but again, that should be 1-2K, right?   What am I missing that would bring it to the 20K mark?

You get what you paid for. There are a lot of blockchain and ICO offerings out there, but if you chooses the cheapest among them, then you should not be surprised if you get a poor Word Press website. LOL. But I was surprised you quoting the price around that range, is that just for a website alone? I don't think that it will cost that much, in my opinion. Are ICO project willing to pay that for just a website though? I think $1000 website will be enough to attract investors with good design and layout.

$1000-2000 is enough for a basic website implementation by a professional. So like a standard ICO site. I've developed things like ICO sites before, it really depends on the amount of pages & features required though.

If special features are required (such as a point system, sharing validation, bounty systems, etc), then it will start to add up.

I'm having trouble understanding some things here. I see team members in ICOs and team members have programmers, so why the hell would the ICOs need to pay to have a site if they should have their own programmers as team members? I do not know if I'm asking stupid questions, but it does not make sense that someone who creates an ICO will buy a website or will pay someone to create their site, unless that person is a scammer.

Almost every ico outsources ICO campaigns including web development, marketing, and in most cases community management. Hiring experienced team to handle ICO gives them a better chance for success. Nothing scammy in this.  However I would not want ico I m investing in to spend 20k on website. That's just waste. Anything around 2-3k is acceptable.

Since the website is just a static HTML page with animations, the cost should be low on the coding side but the designing part would be more expensive. Don't compare it with the website with ICO system and full functionalities integrated though. I'm assuming you just wish to know about the fancy landing page and not the entire ICO system. Either way, most of those templates are stolen or copied.

Let's admit that a developped ico website with full foncionalities integrated, would be so expensive (some expect to reach 60.000$). As a consequence, projects plan for a pre-ico stage to collect the necessary funds for the main-ico stage; a website for pre-ico doesn't need to be in a high rate (simple static home page would be enough great) that can be developped by any coder in the team who can also add simple templates(5$+). This is the most known strategy for a start-up aiming to run a successful professional ico. Elements in a pre-ico website are simple to add and don't need a high cost: I would resume them:
- Product Description
- A presentation video
- Description of the pre-ICO
- Roadmap
- Documents: Whitepaper/terms and conditions
- Team profiles
- Parteners
- News in press
- Contacts and official social channels
- Subscription form

Hi friend
if you are planning to launch a crypto token and need to design Site,KYC and white listing dash board,10 ico listing, air drop campaign, bounty campaign the all process will cost not more than $10-12k by any professional company.Take quotations and consider the best.

To create a website and smart contract work also you will find the developer to help you mate. I want to create a website means I will never invest these much amount to the creating website alone.
If you are good at making smart contracts with the ethereum blockchain you will not get the investment this much.
People are not technically much to understand the cost estimation for making website. Please get the good developer and make use of it.

The truth about websites- it’s a supply and demand market. Many times the same website could be charged $20,000 to a client who can afford it or $750 to a client that can’t. I’ve owned a digital agency for almost 10 years, so I know how this goes.

And this is a bit of a paradox for the client and for the designer.  The designer generally undervalues themselves because they don’t realize that what they do is extremely unique and needed, and the client generally just wants to save a dollar every step of the way.  And so what happens more times than not, the client drives the cost down and the freelancer agrees because they don’t have enough value in themselves to stand firm on the price, and so the result is uninspired work. The designer begrudgingly takes on a cheap job to pay their bills, and they put no creativity or inspiration into the job simply to get it done and move on to the next, since it’s not worth their time.

And so, if I can give any advice, you get what you pay for.  When it comes to an ICO website, the advantage of a really great website can equal millions of dollars in value. I would say after this long unasked-for analysis, you should probably budget between $2000 and $5000 for your website.  The further up that range you spend the better your ICO website will look and function.

Hope this is helpful!

Chris

That second paragraph pretty much sums it up, and it's been what I've tried to explain to many for a while. Doesn't just apply to designers, but developers, etc..

If you cheap out on your developers/designers,etc giving them bare-minimal, they'll be less motivated.

the cheapest way to build an ICO website is just to hire freelance. Hire freelancer, build your website and then hire seriously someone who is really PRO in building websites. There are a lot of good developers (freelancers) who can really be very helpful, creative and cheap. You will definitely save money that you can use it in the feature for upgrading the website.

So you're basically saying get cheap freelancers, and a more expensive pro developer to provide management/consultation over those other programmers?
