I've been a bit distracted by all the gox meltdown fuss, I forgot how far the long term price has to go. I just saw this on bloomberg
http://www.bloomberg.com/video/can-bitcoin-come-back-from-multiple-hacks-~XPcnslQRTu4drafGngWdw.html

The interviewer had absolutely no clue how bitcoin works, and didn't believe that there could never be more that 21 million. I've seem this a few times in the financial press, amazing. Short term, obviously, the price will stay cray cray, but this definitely gave me a smile Smiley

thanks for that. I think they spelled it out there - Hysterical media hype - just like this forum trying to scare people off bitcoin.
Bitcoin is here to stay.

Never watched US TV before. But how can it be, that someone (like the guy from Boston University) appears on TV who is obviously badly informed about Bitcoin. This is ridiculous but made my day  Cheesy

The fact that Matt (the TV host) quickly said "No thats wrong" to an guest (supposedly an expert on subject) basically makes that guest a joke. If a TV host has more understanding on the subject than you do, what are you interviewed for?

Sure made me smile.

Precisely. It was actually a Pro Bitcoin piece. You don't put Barbie doll up against one of the lead Bitcoin developers if you are wanting to do a hit-piece on Bitcoin.

Kraken Account, Robbed/Emptied. Kraken say "Fuck you, its your loss": https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1559553.msg15656643#msg15656643

Bitfinex victims. DO NOT TOUCH THE BFX TOKEN! Start moving it around, or trading it, and you will be construed as having accepted it as an alternative means of payment to your USD, BTC, etc.

Lol. It'd be far easier to counterfeit US currency (and the banks already are, essentially, with fractional reserve systems), all you have to do is find one bank with a vulnerability, send a ton of fake money to another account in your control, and transfer it abroad.

The fact that he was invited to the NY DFS hearing I think should be more concerning rather than he doing a 30sec slot on Bloomberg.

I love how they get people on to talk about bitcoin.... who don't know much about bitcoin.  It's like this isn't even journalism 101 guys, it's common sense.

Personally I'm also a really big fan of taking all the dumb talking points of the anti-bitcoin idiots and applying directly what they say to fiat USD. Most of the time, using the same comparison and the same arguments, bitcoin just looks all the stronger.

Well done to Andreas for remaining so calm, especially with Professor Bitcorn mouthing off about "misinformation". I'm also glad Matt Miller is still trying to enlighten his co-hosts even after his "trial run" of Bitcoin is over - it just shows how your attitude can change if you actually try to learn something about the technology..

you can see in which maturity stage bitcoin is, watching this video. seriously i read a similar article in a well reputated local newspaper wondering if bitcoins cannot be duplicated or something.

andreas should start and promote a very broad explanation why digital scarcity is possible now. all the basic talk have to based on the invention of the blockchain, not on the bitcoin payment method.

English is my native tongue and I still had to ask my teenage daughters what it meant.  They rolled their eyes at how stupid it is while explaining it to me.

cray cray is just a way of saying "crazy" that crazy people use. Hence double crazy. The real story is much longer than that, but that should do.
