I agree. I really see no need to let a person be able to self moderate a GB or sales post. Other sections I can understand the purpose, but for sales pages I do not understand.
Im sure there is a reason for letting sellers do this, I just do see one at the moment.

Sure, to stop the trolls. Same people make new accounts over and over just to troll, because they can.

Same people make new accounts over and over just to troll, because they can. i believe, people are smart enough to recognize a fresh-regged single-digit-activity account just trolling especially when the seller takes the time to qoute and disarm these posts, also reporting to moderators dunno if smf has that feature, but i know other baords give the op to flag posts as spam these arent deleted then but just hidden and can be shown by clicking on them combine this with a min posts and min days registered to post permission for all marketplace boards, and you greatly solve the spam/troll problem without giving scam ops the chance to censor or disguise

And no, greed blinds people some to the point of being ludicrous.

That's not my quote BTW. messed up the tag order. fixed greed makes blind but good preventation measures still can reduce the probability of that happening

So, the way I see it, we are allowing Self-Moderated threads here to prevent trolling?
Simple fact is that scammers using Self-Moderated threads to their advantage and to lure innocents people in.
Which is a bigger evil, trolling or scamming?
STOP THE F*CKING SELF-MODERATED THREADS AT GROUP BUYS NOW!

Scammers on the Group Buys subforum are using Self-Moderated threads to their advantage, that's why we need the get the Operator, theymos, to disallow at least noob/jr members from posting them.

Perhaps to restrict self-moderated threads to Members/Jr Members level and above, feed the newbies threads to the trolls for experience.
It is very unlikely that >members will organize a scam on there account.

I also agree it is not necessary to self moderate a group buy thread in my view.

Let's keep this on the front page, until they (mods, theymos, etc...) do something about it.
