What is EquestrianBit?

Equestria is far away, but maybe there is a way to get at least a little bit closer to it. As we all know, in Equestria, the main currency is Bit.
And so we let ourselves get inspired by this money from the land of friendship and kindness, and created new cryptocoin, EquestrianBit!
We hope that, just like our favourite ponies, you'll use this currency for spreading laughter and and goodness all throughout the internet,
and if this makes at least one person happy, then we already succeeded. Thank you and brohoof to all of you.

FAQ

Q: Hey, that's awesome! Why no-one made it sooner?
A: Thanks! That surprises me too!

Q: What about ASICs? :/
A: Nobody likes Bitcoin ASICs. But scrypt ASICs are still far away and they probably won't be as effective as SHA-256 ASICs. But I would like to keep EQB accessible to everyone and if community agrees, algorithm may be later changed to scrypt-n or something similar.

Q: The logo...
A: I'm not sure about it... if someone wants to draw better one, go ahead! Smiley

Q: Where is "Getting Started"? Where are exchanges? This is Shitcoin!
A: Hey, if you want to write Getting Started or some info, I will appreciate that. Exchanges will come sooner or later, don't worry.

Q: Hey, that's great, I want to buy something with it!
A: Yeah! I hope I will someday be able to buy MLP comic or something like that with EQB.

Q: Mining! Cannot wait!
A: Instructions below Smiley

Q: I hate pools, I want solomine!
A: Okay, copy equestrianbit.conf to %appdata%/EquestrianBit and point your miner to localhost:14011, user PinkiePie, pass ChimiCherryChanga

equestrianbit.conf

2. Register on pool and create worker.
3. Enter worker and server address to miner.

I've solo mined for 30 minutes and solved 3 blocks of 5,000 hashing at ~420 KH/s. One of them was an orphan, but 2 of of 3 ain't bad! Long live EQuestrianBit! Cheesy

These low diff coins are a great way to learn how to solo mine and learn how it works. Nothing beats solving blocks solo!

I gave it a try yesterday, but i fucking don't have a clue how i need to do it. So i have a lunix bux with Ubinus or something like that on it. THere I run my cgminer script.

I believe for solo mining you need to take the source from the linux box and compile it and this create a wallet? I think, but what next how do you know that what you're mining is going to your wallet?

You need the wallet running on the same computer(i am on windows have no clue of linux) and you have to connect to the wallet with the localhost as server address and the port you set in the conf file.

You need the coin wallet and coin.conf file to solo mine. Open the wallet let it sync and close the wallet. Make a coin.conf file with the coin name e.g for this coin it's "equestrianbit.conf" add the rpc info and nodes, then place it in the coins folder in the %APPDATA% directory where the wallet.dat file is located.

Create a shortcut to the wallet.exe and in the properties add a "-server" argument e.g: "C:\Wallets\equestrianbit-1.0.1\equestrianbit-qt.exe" -server. Start the wallet using the shortcut you just created and then start cgminer like you would to mine with a pool, but instead of the stratum server, set the output to your localhost and rpc login info like:

cgminer --scrypt -o http://127.0.0.1:4011 -u PinkiePie -p ChimiCherryChanga

After it starts check the debug file to make sure you are receiving blocks:

Once you find a block you will get a transaction notification and a pick-axe will show up in the wallet. The newly minted coins will show as 'immature' in the wallet until after 120 confirmations, they can be spent.

How do I check the debug? New to solo mining on CGminer. When I run the .bat file, I get No suitable long-poll found for http://127.0.0.1:14011.
Afterwards, it just keeps saying New block detected on network over and over.

I really don't have a clue why i'm mining this... i was mining suncoin but there the pools are also unstable, i was moving from hobbitcoin to saturncoin then sun now this one, really bad day, always had to change coins.

Congrats you are solo mining:)

The debug.log is s in the %APPDATA% coin folder. You can also check it from the debug window in the wallet. You don't need a long-poll to solo mine if you are connecting to the nodes. You can add a pool stratum as a failover address in cgminer to get the block info from the stratum server as well. You won't see any output in cgminer, unless there is an error or you solve a block. The new block messages mean you are getting the blockchain info.

not really. Admin sent email:

____________
So... due to error, shares weren't recorded and user balances are irreversibly lost. But don't worry! You will get your coins! Just send me proof of your mining hashrate and I will pay you manually.

Also, only way of fixing the pool was reinstalling it, so you will have to register again.

Sorry for the inconvenience

I don't see this coin succeed. Dev closing the old topic without saying ANYTHING. Then 1 day later, making the exact same topic with the exact same launch. Both launches were kind of fair. Sad to see the dev is almost not communicating with us at all.

Hello everyone! Pool was broken and user balances weren't recorded. If you were mining on pool before it was fixed, you should have email in your mailbox. Just reply to it with screen of your current mining session and your EQB address and I will send you coins manually.

Lost a lot of time on this coin Sad today received a mail that all coins was lost in that mining pool as something went wrong and they didn't had a backup. I don't have a clue how much coins i was mining as it was also not displayed, but i was one of the big miners in the beginning, so it can be easily 500K

At what block did you jumped in for mining? I read back and seems that you started in pool 30 mins after start so you may have around 100K-200K, i guess

Last time that i will try this one.... lets hope that my 5000Kh/s is not a waste of time, as i don't know what happened with all the coins that i have mine on http://pool.equestrianbit.com/ Sad They lost everything, ok, they said send some screenshots as prove that you were mining there, but i didn't take any screenshots Sad

But it would be nice that the owner at least give some of those coins back to people that indeed were mining there .

i've started when diff was 0.009, and with a block reward of 5k, probably i would have now 50 block....

¨
You don't need to have screenshot from the past! Just send screenshot of your current session. You don't need to prove that you mined, I already know that, user database is intact, I just need to know your hashrate.

Infact this makes me very happy. Not because i've received back my coins, but because they want to help and be fair.

Yesterday evening i thought, pfff, i will not come back mining this coin, a lot of problems, etc, but after today, mmm. Knowing that they are serious and i will certainly put my miners back to this coin from time to time.

This is a exchange that is getting more and more activities.

https://www.mintpal.com/voting

You can vote on the coins that you really like. I believe it is a good start to ask to add EquestrianBit so that miners can vote on the coin.

coinmarket.io

is also a nice option, very fast exchange. Pretty decent volume.

cryptsy.com

I won't try to get onto cryptsy yet, let your coin first grow a little before you create a request. It is more professional.

that's what I like about this coin. Honest, no premine, backed by a dev who has absolutely no money Cheesy

+1

I really like this, why? Because he is a student, HE WILL WORK HARD FOR HIS COIN!!!! HE NEEDS TO MONEY. MY MINERS ARE BACK ON EQUESTRIANBIT, and if i can make some money with a nice pump or so, then i will pay those 0.25BTC myself Cheesy

Aww thanks! Cheesy I hope I can compile Mac wallet today and then I will add Kimoto Gravity Well for better network security. In meantime, you can upvote this Reddit post! http://www.reddit.com/r/coins2themoon/comments/1yhc2d/please_add_equestrianbit_eqb/

With the whole panda fiasco I think we should make some noise for this Dev. Everyone is always trying to ride on rich dev's coins. This dev is as poor as it can be. Let's make noise, post on twitter, reddit etc to make a statement against these big whales who are only getting richer because of US supporting them. It's time we support someone that needs it (and maybe can make some cash along the way ourselves Wink ). I already posted on twitter:

How about we support poor devs instead of the rich? bitcointalk.org/index.php?topi… I quote the dev: ‘I don’t have 0.25 btc, I’m a student.'

Lets get this buzz moving.

with the lemons!, lol. I started this at the end of 2013. xD

Hm... join to develop team... do you have a Jabber? (I don't like IRC, this is an old, unsupported crap) You can write me here or to a1ba.omarov@celest.in.

But I don't know. This coin is started already and, IMHO, 5000 for block and 1.32 billion coins... it's not too big? All *coins smallest unit is 10^-6 and... 10^15 total units? It's really not serious. Sad

Also, I can up a Block Explorer and make packages for GNU/Linux. (Debian, openSUSE, archLinux pkgbuild and Gentoo ebuild)

Yeah, we got some new hardware today and was upgrading 2 of the servers and I kind of just threw the game up on the server.  Didn't realize the error that was made with the cron.  It's fixed now but we reboot in 3 mins for hardware upgrades (moving to a different node and machine).

There are 100x less EQB then Dogecoins....so EQB should cost something between 5x-100x more than DOGE.

Easy, easy, easy, EQB is not Doge Cheesy a little different in networkhashrate. I believe a coin with this number of coins can hit 200 satoshi is we are lucky, more likely it can hit 20 satoshi if this coin is being worked on and keep on improving. Btw, Klondike coin is working on a exchange, so ones this exchange is ready then EQB can be added.

He: Yea, 0.4 btc is the small amount
Me: And what is that small amount? So a dice wheel game for Klondike coins.
He: It is possible to buy it for a small amount.
Me:

Dear,

I notice your dice game.

http://coinye-dice.org/wheel/?unique=f2ja8zAvRsSnVgJqkH4dVCSSKmn8rWJf# Do Not Share This URL!

Wondering do you want to create this for Equestrian too? In fact you have nothing to lose and EquestrianBit will have a extra game that they can use for playing. What do you think?

Not really planning to pay 0.40BTC for this game. It would be nice as a new game, but playing money for this, i don't know. They already earn money on it when we are using it....

Pool is working Smiley It's running on weak box, so it throws error occasionaly, but it's ok. I would buy better server, but hosting is expensive and I cannot use income from pool fees because there are no exchanges yet. Registrations are closed, because kro55's pool eqb.broken-arrow.pl is really good and it needs miners, so you should mine there instead.

Looks like it....

Maybe the name is too difficult for people, maybe the 'currency of friendship' text needs to be removed, i don't know. The start was not good, because of problems with the pools.

I would remove the 'currency of friendship' part, that is for sure. 'EquestrianBit - Lets the horse game begin' something like that, something more i don't know, more powerful. currency of friendship is sooo, i don't know, strange, no?

Totally agree 100%. The entire concept of this coin is weird. Especially the affiliation with my little pony.... Which seems a bit, oh what's the word, awkward maybe?

Did you happen to google "MLP comic"? The results will be quite astonishing

If i was the owner, then i would take a horse with a link to the earth. Make it agresive, dark, mystery. and not a pony, ok, if the miners were 3 years old then it will be a success, but he need to put more dark side in his coin, some mystery, something like a dark force around a horse. Miners are not 3 years old. In fact i already told him, come on, your website, remove those stupid horses...

Yeah that makes sense. A lot of popular tv shows/movies nowadays are about witchcraft, demons, and other "dark" subjects. I mean come on who doesn't like at least one of the following suppernatural, ravenswood, sleepy hollow, or arrow.

Weren't you involved in USDe launch/promotion? It was/is one of the most popular coins launched in dec/jan timeframe even with the premine. Maybe you should make the next awesome coin?

Given that fact that February has failed miserably as far as coin launches it would probably be a huge success.

February has been a huge fail as far as coin launches. Nearly everything has either had a huge premine or small block reward.

I just manage to get Klondike coin on coinpayments.net, a big step for Klondike coin. We really work hard as a community to get this achieved, and now working on the block reduction and try to get Klondike coin back to 10K sats (at least)

Yes, i was doing stuff for USDe, but they need to adjust, the market place is different, their coin structure is not good for the current market conditions. As you know we are in a bear market.

Not interesting in starting my own coin, not technical enough, i know what i want but i need technical people. For this coin, make it more dark and you will already notice a big difference. Also there are no decrease in block rewards, mmm, i would always add a decrease, little decreases but every week, something like mintcoin, not like Topcoin, that was a little too fast too low Smiley

What's wrong with "Currency of friendship"? It's similar to FSC, but that's not a big problem I think. Changing EQB to something "darker" is definitely not happening! We will get bigger, don't worry guys Wink I'm really excited about promo video.
And about quicker halving... seems like good idea, I will think about it. It will require hard-fork, so it will probably happen with changing diff. adjustment to KGW.

Good question, i have suggested to make his coin darker, more mistery, less based on currency of friendship, there is no friendship in the world, so nobody mine it...

Windows client updated to version 1.0.2!

Changelog:
- updated to Qt 5.2.0  ->  increased performance
- increased max. block size
- minor tweaks

Update is recommended, especially if you are solo-mining.

The git repo hasn't updated in 11 days.
I don't run precompiled wallets, sorry.

p.s. Not a single pony pic in this thread. The dogecoins guys are more into doge than you guys are into pony. This is making me want to make my own coin, if the coin creator is the only one that even admits to being a MLP fan. I posted about this on my forum, and people are asking how to get it, etc.. and I kind of don't want to tell them if this is just a bunch of non-bronys trying to cash in on someone else's subculture.

Github repo is latest. Only thing that is missing in repo are some fixes to make it compile with Qt 5, but they are not necessary for Qt 4 and I will push them soon. About low amount of bronies mining this coin... that makes me sad to, but don't worry, they will come.

It's because there's not enough actual bronies here, I think its just me and lemons.

I noticed in my own community there wasn't much interest in cryptocurrency in general, there's not a lot of overlap for some reason. It would make for a good study to try to figure out why that is, but I only know 2 bronies that are at all interested in Bitcoins, and they are barely into it.

If we can get an EqD post, there will be a lot of people checking it out for a day, and most of the views will be that day only, so you gotta be ready. I would suggest having a clear path for people to get help, such as promoting that IRC channel, since you'll get a lot of newbies that never bothered with it until there's a pony themed coin. Have some giveaways where you give away tiny amounts to get people giving it to each other for fun, so they can learn the magic of crytpocurrency.
How about a subreddit?

Aw dude you just outed yourself as a non-brony. Smiley
EqD is the #1 site for MLP information, http://www.equestriadaily.com/
Do not email them asking for a mention, wait for Lemons to do it, we only get one shot and we need to be ready for it. Most likely it will get into a "nightly roundup" which is their nightly batch post of less important stuff, and doesn't get as nearly much attention as a dedicated post. But if it gets its own post, there will be a fuckload of traffic for that day. A lot of crytpocurrency newbies would be visiting the website, and things should be as easy as possible. We should get a faucet setup before then too. I can donate some EQB coins if someone sets one up. I'd do it, but I'm not having much luck finding any prepackaged php scripts or whatever.
I can promote it on other communities I'm in, but we have to get our shit together first.

BTW lemons I idle in IRC in a screen session, one of these days I'll be on at the same time as you.

I really have no clue why i continue mining this one, maybe i like to take a risk, and you never know.... mining is easy, so when suddenly difficulty jump to 1 then the reward is already 10 times less, and when it jump to 10 then already 100 time less, so maybe 1M EQB is worth 0.10BTC Smiley

All libraries are included in exe which should work without copying any libraries. Try older version of EquestrianBit equestrianbit.com/files/equestrianbit-1.0.1.rar

Yes! Reddit tipbot is in beta and will be released tomorrow or on Wednesday. EQB video is in progress and will be released this week. I'm also working on paper wallet, no ETA.
And about exchanges: We will be added to Lazycoins, after they launch, but they are still busy fixing bugs, launch will probably be next week.
One exchange contacted me, but they wanted 1 BTC per year and I cannot spare that much money.

Who cares about number of miners? Cheesy

Ouch, careful saying stuff like that. The more miners a coin has, the more secure the network. If anyone can put more than 50% of the hash rate, they can doublespend and kill confidence in the coin. If a coin creator doesn't care how many miners are on a coin, that is a little bit scary.

I KNOW how important miners are for network, what I mean is that coin success doesn't really need thousands of miners.

I know you are really looking forward to see EQB listed on exchange, so here is sum up:

- 2 exchanges promised to add us after they launch
- 2 exchanges are currently evaluating adding EQB
- 1 said they will add EQB if we pay them some bitcoins

Don't be worried, there will definitely be buyers. There will also be more people generally, because with exchanges, EQB will have value and will be usable as currency.

It appears SwissCEX would fall in that third bracket.  I was present when rubycoin devs told SwissCEX devs they were ready to 'make an offer' to join their exchange.  2 days later (3 days after I asked for consideration for this coin), rubycoin was listed.  I so thought that exchange was different than the rest.

This does not add optimism. Failcoin entered the exchange https://c-cex.com/index.html?p=fail-btc, and no sales. I think it's a bad sign for EQB. It is necessary to increase the popularity of coins before going the exchange.

We are on CryptoTC! Not full exchange, but nice marketplace for exchanging coins.

I do not understand how there can trade. Here trades happen automatically?

I'm not really happy with video quality, we will re-shot it again and we will make another one Smiley
It would be more interesting if in the video, the people passing by took part in the presentation. But I demand too much. Smiley

It's not exchange, it's marketplace. When you want to sell, you post an offer. When you want to buy, you browse other offers and when you found one you like, you click on it (you have to be registered) and you contact the seller. There's no escrow, so be careful.

I'm not really happy with video quality, we will re-shot it again and we will make another one Smiley

Something like that is planned for 2nd video. 3rd video will be more informational and will be animated.

Ok, here it is:

We are in voting on Comkort exchange. They add top 6 coins every Sunday. To get to 6th place, only about 300 votes are needed. That shouldn't be problem for EQB.

Everyone can vote once per hour, 3 times per hour with registration.

Is the 1.0.1 version of the EQB wallet still usable? Whenever I try to install 1.0.2 or 1.0.4 I get an error that libgcc_s_sw2-1.dll is missing from my computer and I should try to reinstall.

First Pony Auction.
My pony collection have some duplicates, and I want to sell some pony toys in series of Pony Auctions, for the purpose of promotion of pony coins.
First lot will be presented 28th March at 00:00 (+4GMT) (yes, I'm from Moscow, and want to use habitual time).
Don't worry about delivery, low cost shipping included.
Of course, in this auction, only EQB accepted! Starts from 1 EQB. (Also here's will be two auctions at the same time, and second toy will be sold for PWNY coins)
So, get ready Your coins!

Keys are generated locally so there is no need for SSL. It's true someone could theoretically make man-in-middle attack, but SSL wouldn't help, because man-in-middle could easily bypass it.
If you are paranoid, download Git repo and run it locally.

No, QR-code is generated locally too. SSL would have zero benefit, no private data are transfered.

Your official pool still didn't pay out after the 2nd or 3rd relaunch (I cant remember off the top of my head) - You paid out to miners that requested it as an apology, but at the difficulty it was at days later for their current hashrate. i.e. - You underpaid, a lot, for miners that started from second0. You and I emailed about it. Not mining this anymore, moved on about a hundred times since and just curious how many coins you hold as a result.

Aww, this again? I payed out based on "launch difficulty", at best precision I could. But many people didn't wanted payout and said I should use it for bounties and such. So I got 910 000 EQB left. It will be used in bounties and giveaways, don't worry.

Well the developer didnt really do that much to get this coin going.
I cant blame him cause he is still in college and stuff.

One day, maybe one day, this will hit the moon, in number of coins Smiley

Well the developer didnt really do that much to get this coin going.
I cant blame him cause he is still in college and stuff.
Really would like to see this coin go back into existence though.

Very difficult with this coin. I would suggest that he relaunch the coin and that the old coins can be re-used. like those coins can be part of a premine or so...

EQB is almost worthless now, we all know that. But it's nice concept and abandoning it would be terrible mistake.

EQB2 will use Keccak algorithm, which can be effectively mined both on NVIDIA and AMD cards.

People will be able to change their old EQB to EQB2, at 1:100 ration (may change, still to be decided)
Total number of coin and block rewards will be lower than now, to prevent price being too low.
We might include POS, but it will never be POS only, because most POS only coins fail, because new people can't get in.

Please post your ideas to this thread or PM me.

I would be okay with a change, as long as we could trade our current EQB to the new coin.
Lots of new hot/cool algos out.
Plus, winter is coming, back.
