What's the deal with today's fork in the DOGECOIN blockchain?  What caused it and how many forks were there?  2?

too many pools were running on the old 1.4.x wallet version. the pools all need to upgrade to the 1.5.x version
it is a database issue (the new version uses a different database) with large transaction blocks
