Today I found a Bitcoin  I got back in 2011

It's a 2011 Casascius series 1 that has the spelling error.
It has never been used, and is in prestine condition.
I looked it up on Casascius Bitcoin analyzer and it shows it as active with a value of 1 Bitcoin and is not registered to anyone.

Is it worth more than of face value? What is the best way to go about getting it appraised?

Can you post pictures of the coin ? It will help our experts to expertise your coin.
It will help if you can put a piece of paper next to the coin, with your username and today's date on the paper.

Is Casascius spelled correctly or is it spelled wrong? Pictures were blurry.... Correct spelling is a V2 and MORE valuable.

It must be S1/Error, because S2's have non-lasered first bits I believe?

Looks pretty decent.
Yes, it is worth more than face value due to the "forks" that are associated with it like BCash, BGold, and B-whatever else is on there.
Best way to have "appraised" is to send to ANACS where they will "grade" it...
To get an actual "value" appraisal, I would recommend an auction... will show the real value of the coin!!

Thanks Cheesy

What is the best way to ship it to ANACS considering the high value?

From the Encyclopedia:

Odd today images hosted on my own sever are not displaying; looking into it. Does not appear to be a problem on my end may be the forum.

Solution: upload to imgur then select bbcode option to paste in post the code between image tags should end in .jpg

Someone mentioned private server pics or similar don't display anymore??

Well that sucks now all the images I have ever hosted no longer display here. Why on earth would such a change be made?

MJ can you talk to a moderator; this outage or change in policy is not good for collectors:(

Edit: found the workaround as posted above. Why the forum now has a problem with images on private servers is not being shared.

Hi there seiler270,

You can send to ANACS and have it graded - obverse looks to have some tarnish and there are a few rim dings on the reverse between 5 & 6 o'clock.  My guess at ANACS grade would be MS65 or 1-2 points lower.

If you wanted to sell it in the near term, I would suggest an auction here beginning at the coins face value.  I would expect a final auction price from 1.2 - 1.3 btc.

Best of luck either way and nice find.
