I like the new features CoinDrafts, keep up the good work. Are you planning on adding MLB? not trying to nag you.

They told me earlier on the chat they will have MLB by the end of the month, CBB by march madness and also NFL later in the year before the season starts.

I suggested a couple games to them too.  The first being a "pickem" game where there like 8-10 groups of players, each group has about 6+ different players from the same position, pick one from each group with no salary cap and you have your game.  Great for newer players.

The next used to be my favorite but I forgot all about it.  It was a "Target" game where the site sets a high target...like 50 points for NHL or 350 for NBA.  Something obtainable but real hard to get.  Must be a pay-to-enter game.  If no one hits the target that night the entire pot rolls over, and keeps going until someone hits and wins big.  If multiple people hit its split evenly.

What are your thoughts on those games?

That's crazy, I was going to suggest a target/hit it and split it type game but figured there wasn't enough people on yet to have it be realistic.  I love those things.

The jackpot gets bigger and bigger every day so more and more people play it.  With a .005 buyin and a realistic yet nearly optimal target score (I was also thinking 350 for NBA), the eventual winner could realistically win over a coin.  That's some sweet action!

I think theres a few of us that'll play to pay that game and then when others see what the potential payout can be they will start to join and the pot will just race up.  It'd be an easy place for freeroll winners to spend their money  Wink

I'd be in those for sure.

Lol it's a bit like that sometimes isn't it.
You pick a player 1 week and he scores nothing much, so you drop him from your selections - then the next time he scores 43.4. Haha.
Skill involved in picking teams, but definitely some luck also. Smiley

What is CDP?

CDP are CoinDrafts Points, which can be used to buy into contests in the very near future. You earn CDP for each contest you enter that has a BTC entry fee.

Great ideas J3 and FUR. We will see about getting a contest like this implemented.

Ummm. CoinDrafts, you may want to reconsider the rules of the BIG 0.5BTC Freeroll.

There is no skill involved in it. Its a bit of a joke. Allowing 1 player to enter 10+ teams etc. What's the point of that? With so many opportunities to configure lineups - a handful of players will sweep the prize.

You may as well divided it up between them now and do away with it.

The players are only going the rules, but surely it takes away the fun. Just taking advantage of not well thought out rules.

It should be like a poker satellite - you get a ticket - you get 1 seat in the next level up game.

I disagree with your point, but I do agree that the tournament has gotten somewhat ridiculous.  DFS isn't a poker tournament, it's playing the odds on players.  Thus entering multiple teams into tournaments is +ev, since you can use different combinations to maximize your exposure.  I'll often enter multiple teams in the .005 GPP, and in fiat DFS I've at times entered 30+ teams into the same giant tournament.

Limiting each player to one entry defeats the purpose of having a large target tournament...everyone will have one.  You might as well advocate eliminating the sat tournaments altogether.

I do think that it needs to be done away with/modified.  It's become the focal point of the site, and the real-btc games are barely getting any action.  It's lead to a lot of people just grinding those and tooling up the chat, which is lose-lose for everyone.  I did well in the tournament the last week, but have stopped playing the sats because there are going to be ~300-400 entries into the tournament so each ticket is going to be worth very very little.  Not really worth it to me to grind all of the free sats.

My suggestion?  Keep everything the same (10 man SNGs, fire on-demand) but have there be a small buy-in, maybe .001BTC.  It'll operate more like a traditional sat, defer some of the cost for CD, ect.  Or perhaps have the buyin for the sats be CDP since there is no other use for them at the moment?  Either way, I just think that you need to incentivize people to participate in the real-btc games on the site, not decentivize them from doing so.

What you say is fair, and you come across as reasonable. And i too would like to see the action focused more on the buy-in games.
So we both want the best for the site because we both think it's great.

But all i am saying is the 'Big one' can be manipulated towards those that have the most time to spend rather than the most/any skill.

You can either 'grind out' the free sats - or you can set up 10 accounts - put all those 10 accounts into the same 10 man free sat - and end up with 3 guaranteed tickets. Pick the same 3 accounts each time to get all the tickets and at the end of the week have those 3 accounts each enter the big one 30 times each - NO Skill at all - just time in going through the motions.

Then with those 90 (or whatever the number is) tickets, skew the big one away from genuine players looking to test their skill and have fun with the site, towards yourself.
Basically its taking advantage of the rules to steal from the site.

Now i am NOT SAYING ANYONE IS DOING THIS at the moment. Just saying it can be done. And its no fun putting in 1 team and seeing another player with 20 teams. And its not because that player is more skillfull - its just that they spent more time. And i do not think the reward should go to the time rich.

It will get old and boring pretty quick - and kill the site - if the rules are not looked at. I agree with the suggestion you made. That'll help things.

CoinDrafts did mention they will change the format of the Big Freeroll in the future, I think they have it as it is right now to build the player pool & audience to the site.

My suggestions, and this isnt very thought thru so feel free to build off it, would be to have one "ticket freeroll" each night, paying maybe 5-10 spots, and not have a cap on the # of teams total but only one entry per person.  You can still have the 10 man ticket games but make it be an entry fee, like a true satellite.  Also, you could make the GPP games have a ticket implemented such as pay 1st & 2nd higher BTC and then pay 3rd place in a ticket.

To build off the freeroll 10 man game idea, you can do other satellites too.  Pay to get in.  So you have a specific game where top 5 spots pay, 1-3 are tickets, 4-5 are small amounts of BTC to basically get your money back.

Best suggestion, IMO, is to be able to pay to get into the big game.  This would allow CoinDrafts to get some BTC back and also keep the pool somewhat a bigger size, especially if you cut down the # of free tickets eligible to be won

What about about adding a "percentage owned" next to each player?  It would need to be visible after the contest started but I like to see how many others are using that guy, or aren't using them pending how you want to look at it.
