It is necessary to write meaningful posts that will be useful for people. For this you can accrue merits

It is not simple and easy at the same time. Try to make really useful posts. If you help people and make your posts really informative, then I believe, you will get Merit.

I have been on this platform for quite some time too, and I have also been wondering what one has to do to get these merits. I have seen some accounts with over a thousand merits, and some with nothing. What is it really one has to do, because it is almost as if these things are not gotten from merely being active.

The most important rule in any forum is to create interesting topics that are really useful for other forum members. I met a lot of topics on the forum, the authors of which received Marit you for your useful material. So you should try.

Merit system is useful to find out the alt account and spam users because last year many peoples enter into this forum. So many alt accounts are circulate in this forum If someone is give merit it will transparent to everyone so we should find the alt account easily it is main reason for merit system and good quality posts also make some members so we should give reward for good constructer. You want to merit must actively post some useful information automatically some people's are reward some merits.

You don't need to start a thread just so you can get merits. The reason why you don't receive merits is because most of your posts are in Altcoin Discussion. If you try spreading your posts on different boards and put more thought in to your posts getting a merit or two should be no problem.

There are threads that does giveaway merit for specific tasks like this one and this. You can find more if you browse other boards.

I guess you are in the wrong section. You can visit meta or beginners section for this kind of question for you to be fully answered by your question.

What I can suggest is just read and learn a lot from others posts. You need to make sure that the content of your posts is useful to the readers and unique. Make sure also that you are replying to the correct question of the OP and not off the topic replies.

You can only gain merits if someone gives it to you if you write a quality post.
I think it's a good strategy that the merit is introduced as lots of users last year are scamming bounties by creating multiple accounts with low quality post.

I just think that it should be revised, tweaked a little wherein even if you have low merits and by doubling the activity required you can still rank up and there's a cap to the daily, weekly activity you can gain as well.

having considered the whole comments in this thread, i want to contribute by saying that the merit system is strictly at the mercy of whoever finds your comment interesting and informative. it is not just enough for one to make a meaningful post but it should be pleasant to someone who is reading it.

Gaining merit is a very difficult task.  You post will have to be highly informative and will need to hit a broad spectrum of people to have the best change of grabbing a merit point.  Another key fact is luck.  You need to have a person with merit and willing ot hand it out that finds your post so compelling he has to give you the award.  Keep on plugging away.  You will eventually get some.

The best way to get merit is to provide content that would be very valuable or interesting for the readers. Not some spam-sounding content or something that has been copy-pasted by someone.

Its realy hard to get merit now even me i do posting for a few months already here in this furom but i still dont get any merit from the community because its realy hard to get it unless you are realy good or staff here then its easy for you to earn that merit.

Yes. But you have to write a lot of meaningful posts on meaningful topics. There is lot of spam topics with lot of spam posts, and it's hard to get merits if people only write there.
