Yes this things happen on MEW. You have to manually add the token to make your coin visible on MEW. Access your wallet and select the "Add Custom Token" on the lower right side. Fillout the details needed - Contract Address, Decimal and Symbol. After that, you should be able to view your coin. I have been using MEW for a long time and up until now, I can still say I made the right decision because I never have issues with it.

Of course the two sites are different functions, with myetherwallet we can create a new wallet, then send and view all tokens that use ETH platform, while etherscan is a site to see all ETH and token transactions and can not create new wallet, send and so on.

actually nothing is missing, etherscan has the ability to read all ERC20 based coin as well as myetherwallet, but on MEW you have to add new altcoin description like contract addres, decimal etc. the difference is that MEW can do anything like sending coins, while etherscan can only see, such as transaction results and a list of other activities from your wallet, thank you
Agreed. This is a simple and thorough explanation that I agree with. MEW is a wallet that stores all your tokens while Etherscan scans your wallet and displays your token balances. I prefer ethplorer over etherscan though. We have all encountered situations where tokens are displayed in Etherscan or Ethplorer while they seem to be missing in our wallet which is why you need to manually input the details related to the token in order to make it appear.

Myetherwallet is a ERC-20 wallet containing Ethereum and tokens which run on ERC-20 platform. And Etherscan is just a tool to check transactions on Ethereum's platform and tokens which you have in Myetherwallet

They both are different from one another. Etherscan basically shows the transaction history, tokens etc and in myetherwallet you need to add your tokens separately with token addresses. Hope this helps.

Hi,

I have got a question. On Etherscan I can see my altcoins ODEM & NOBS, but I can't see them on Myetherwallet. Does anyone know why there is a difference, or am i missing something?

Thanks for your help already!

I think i will suggest with contact the mew team about your problem because etherscan and mew the combined in one platform were your coins stored, i use mew because i trust and safe storage but I can't answer your question because i can't encounter on that problem. Hope my suggestion can help you.

I experienced the same thing with about two of my coins but I was told and guided to add them manually which I did and it reflected. Another thing i notice on my own wallet that i dont understand too is that, if i check via etherscan, coins that are in exchanges will show the value and rate in dollars but once I check with wallet, it will only show the coin itself no exchange rate attached to it. I have been pondering over it and no answers.

Myetherwallet just as the name is serves as your online and offline wallet for you to keep your coin and also serve as client for your Ethereum platform and smart contract activities.  Etherscan  however is an explorer that gives you to date information about the activities of Ethereum blockchain, traffic and transactions taking place on blockchain!

Myetherwallet is your wallet and Etherscan.io is the site which is able to scan your Myetherwallet(MEW) to determine the entire storage of your wallet. All you need to do is click "add Custom token" right side and then fill up the "Token Contract Address, Token Symbol, Decimals of token" and then save manually. That's it, you may now view the token in your wallet, or much better just watch the tutorial video on youtube.
I agree with this person, and I think this is a good solution for the Token problem faced on OP, just watching youtube, and have to try it

Probably you just need to add your token as custom token at myetherwallet, there is a button "add custom token", that's one of the first problems for newbies at mew.

Both of them are used for different purposes and hence not similar to each other. A MEW wallet takes in more personal information related to the user like their address, contact, etc upon which you make your transactions and utilize your tokens.  But in etherscan, it will only track down the transactions you made based upon your wallet figures of ERC20.

First of all, these two are use for different purposes. For example, to add your coins to your MEW you need to provide contract address, symbols, decimals of tokens and then you can make transactions. However, in case etherscan, it will track all your transactions and will show all the ERC20 based coins in your wallet.
