It surprises me anytime i see a newbie making his first post like" where can i get a bounty which allows newbie to participate in signature". Every signature campaign requires you to be active in the forum by making posts. as a newbie, I do not think we have gain much knowledge from the forum. We end up spamming the forum here and there making access to quality information very difficult. Please my advice to all new members is that lets use that period to groom ourselves well so that when we start wearing signatures, we can be making constructive posts. Thank you

It surprised me too, seeing a Jr. member, which is technically a newbie as well but just a little bit older in age, wearing a paid signature and posting things that are by far not constructive and advising others not to do the same.

Every signature campaign requires you to be active in the forum by making posts.

No! Every signature campaign requires you to be active in the forum by making "constructive" posts. And you are not even near that and I know that because I have just read some of your posts.

Now the question is, as a newbie, how much knowledge have you gain from the forum so far that can help you make constructive posts.

You tell me, how much knowledge have you gained from the forum so far that makes you think you are an active constructive poster?

They end up spamming the forum here and there making access to quality information very difficult.

Just like you.

Please my advice to all new members is that lets use that period to groom ourselves well so that when we start wearing signatures, we can be making constructive posts. Thank you

Charity begins at home. So before you go out advising others to be good, be better yourself. You are wearing a signature to get paid, and posting nothing else but garbage posts in every single mega spam thread available in the forum, and yet you are here to advise others not to do what you are already doing yourself.
You can't change the world if you don't change yourself first.

The problem has been the issue of spamming because as at the time I joined the forum some years back, newbies were still being accepted into several campaigns but since the spamming became an epidemic where people who farm accounts can easily create a new account, join campaign and further contribute to garbages already complained about, it was left to the managers to take actions by excluding them from campaigns. That does not say all newbies contribute garbages because even after the commencement of the merit system, I have seen newbies contribute quality content to the body of knowledge.

I think excluding newbies and the advent of the merit system has actually reduced the spamming problem to a large extent which limited the source of it to the bounty section of the forum. The moment that area is cleared then all issues can be revisited.

There's really nothing inherently bad about it. Everyone was a newbie at some point. If we discriminate against newbies, we might be turning away potentially good members. This is one of theymos' primary considerations regarding his stance against newbie jail.

Anyway, reducing spam this way falls on the shoulders of bounty managers. If no one is paying shitposters to shitpost, they won't have any incentive to continue shitposting. It's really hard to find a solution for this problem without moderating bounties themselves though, which likely won't happen.

If you make low quality posts, I think that is nothing to do with your rank, you might be in the crypto for a long time and very knowledgeable but you don't need to be a legendary on this forum.

If we talk about knowledge, I don't see big difference between Newbies and Jr. Members. Jr. Members spent a bit more time on Bitcointalk than Newbies, but most of them still have very limited knowledge about crypto.
I think that Newbies shouldn't wear paid signatures. They have to spend some time on forum to become familiar with Bitcointalk rules, all boards and subforums and etc.
If we talk from advertisers perspective, I have no idea why they should accept Newbies. They can wear only very basic signatures without styling and links and such advertising is completely not effective. Personally, I'm very rarely paying attention to Newbies signatures.
Spamming is serious problem on Bitcointalk and it's mainly created by Newbies and Jr. Members. I saw some suggestions that you would need to earn some Merits (5 for example) to enable signature in your profile. And there was some similar suggestions. I think it would help to reduce number of low quality posts because shitposters wouldn't be able to participate in sig campaigns.

Theres no big deal if newbie is wearing signature, if you see it bad then we cant do anything about it.  As long as you obey the rules of the forum its ok.

This shouldn't surprise you, every Newbie makes this comment - either through their own thread or within another newbie's thread.

Please my advice to all new members is that lets use that period to groom ourselves well so that when we start wearing signatures, we can be making constructive posts.

You must be new here yourself. Newbies don't groom themselves. And those that realize how this thing works quickly rise in rank and fade into the masses without offending anyone or making an ass out of themselves.

Your suggestions are nice, I just don't think the newbs are listening.

Seconded! Seen that advice countless times ever since I joined here up until now, it gets repeated over and over and from what I'm seeing it doesn't seem to work, i mean it may have worked to few others but the majority most likely did not. What we need is something that forces them to - just like the merit system

About the topic, personally there's nothing wrong with newbies wearing signatures, what's wrong are spamming and account farming. I get that since it happens a lot with newbies (or other low rank users), people tend to have a fixed idea that all of them are but it's not really. There should still be a few decent users; their post history should say it.

I believe that one should entirely focus aggressively on seeking the knowledge instead of rushing to share any content. It is true that some signature campaigns allow newbie members to be a participant in their campaign, I would not recommend joining any campaign at newbie rank (with the exception of high experience of the member in the crypto industry outside this platform) because the pay rate is much lower for this rank and usually newbies obviously don't have the content to share but for the sake of meeting minimum number of posts, they share something less qualitative which results in threat of getting a negative feedback which affects them in a long run.

Funny enough, the number of posts from newbie accounts on the forum has decreased ever since the new rule was initiated to prevent newbie accounts from wearing signature. I think this initiative can have a positive influence in minimizing spams in the forum.
