in support of rolling back the Constitution of Ukraine to its pre-2004 form.

wow this is moronic. Wasn't the constitution the way it was in the year 2004 exactly the sort of constitution that lead to the constitution as it exists in 2014. ive never seen a more fitting example of Albert Einsteins definition of insanity.

English Wikipedia article for Euromaidan
The Euromaidan (Ukrainian: Євромайдан, Yevromaidan, literally "Eurosquare")[nb 5] is a wave of ongoing demonstrations and civil unrest in Ukraine, which began on the night of 21 November 2013 with public protests demanding closer European integration. The scope of the protests has since evolved, with many calls for the resignation of President Viktor Yanukovych and his government.[67] Many protesters joined because of the violent dispersal of protesters on 30 November and "a will to change life in Ukraine".[5] By 25 January 2014, the protests had been fueled by the perception of widespread government corruption, abuse of power, and violation of human rights in Ukraine.[68]

English Wikipedia article for February ongoing riots
On 18 February 2014, 20,000 Euromaidan protesters in Kiev advanced on Ukraine's parliament in support of rolling back the Constitution of Ukraine to its pre-2004 form.

But are they really fighting for something?  Why do they want anything to do with the EU?  Why do they want anything to do with other nations rather than their own?

This protest ought to be for true freedom, anarchy.  Otherwise, history will repeat over and over until the day they fight for true equality and peace through anarchy.

This message should be known throughout the protesters.

sure but you guys are just fighting for new rulers. a nicer tyrant isn't the solution to those problems. freedom is the only solution and you will never have freedom so long as you have a government. you guys should be using this opportunity to try to abolish government not to replace your old tyrant with a new tyrant.

i understand that you are fighting against repressive sociopath assholes. my argument was not that you aren't. my argument was that there is no point in seeking to replace them with new rulers. power corrupts and so what ever new person you give power to will also become corrupted. if you want freedom than replacing existing rulers with new rulers will never have that effect. if you want freedom than you have to reject rulership in general, not rulership from one particular group of rulers.

You will find that here in particular there are people who far more about the power play currently going on in the world between the major nations/organisations than most people, while I can totally understand usurping an imbecile in charge of the country I can't understand wanting to join an organisation that's just as bad as the one you're trying to leave, you'd be much better off if you formed your own independent democracy. The European Union isn't any kind of safe economic haven it's perceived as and the states within it are just as divided and bickering as they always have been the only difference is that they have pretty much merged together for the sake of protection so they don't end up getting invaded by the U.S or Russia.

I really hope you guys don't end up like Greece or Italy where you endlessly keep cycling through new leaders and governments until someone takes advantage of the situation and screws you all even worse than before.

The police act like its a video game.  Cry

if only these people were fighting for something instead of against something. this always leads to worse tyranny. this will be no exception.

They are.

Our president, police and all - are killers! Bandits!
They changed constitution, they stole they the budget of Ukraine!

Maidan called lawlessness.
Then one more thing :
Pension 1000 UAH ($ 125) - this mess !
Doctor's salary 2000 (250 $) UAH - is chaos !
Teacher salary 1500 (190 $) UAH - is chaos !
New palaces politicians - this mess !
That can be found on the bandit police uniform - it's chaos !
Beating of peaceful demonstrations - this mess !
Torture in the forest and killing unarmed people - this mess !
Abduction wounded from clinics and bullying them - it's such a mess that seems boundless could not get !
On the streets of ordinary passers- grab and throw in jail - this mess !
Beating the elderly, women and students - is chaos !
Our courts - it's chaos !
Our traffic police - this mess !

sure but you guys are just fighting for new rulers. a nicer tyrant isn't the solution to those problems. freedom is the only solution and you will never have freedom so long as you have a government. you guys should be using this opportunity to try to abolish government not to replace your old tyrant with a new tyrant.

WTF?Huh We are fighting for Freedom and LIFE!!!

If you do not believe, come here to Kiev and see it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You are  far from the situation that occurs. And you do not have a clue what you are talking about!

so you guys arn't trying to replace the existing government with a new government?

No we'are not!!!! We don't wan't a "new" governmet! We just want that any authority stoped beating the people everywhere, killing unarned, etc. Our government used to behave as a dictators and we sick of it!

Come to Kiev and see what people are fighting! In another you do not understand.

i understand that you are fighting against repressive sociopath assholes. my argument was not that you aren't. my argument was that there is no point in seeking to replace them with new rulers. power corrupts and so what ever new person you give power to will also become corrupted. if you want freedom than replacing existing rulers with new rulers will never have that effect. if you want freedom than you have to reject rulership in general, not rulership from one particular group of rulers.

The system in Ukraine is basically Feudalism.

Have you wondered how they survive on those extremely low wages that wouldn't even pay for food? The free market! Or, a giant cash economy where everyone avoids paying tax so that their oppressors don't get too much. Everyone pays everyone else with bribes.

Since the Ukrainian government appears to have a military aiming guns at its own people, that means 2 things:
1) it's extremely undemocratic.
2) their government is acting like a private corporation with a private army.

Libertarian paradise!
I can't tell if you are being sarcastic. It is extremely democratic (oligarchical). Unless you're talking about real democracy...

Hypothetically... What would happen if the government of Ukraine is proEU (using the same way of suppressing demonstrations) and protesters are pro-Russia (using the same way of protest)? Would you judge them the same or not?
