Exactly.. Also there are a lot of similar threads like this one, so I don't understand why you started this. We'll soon find out what they'll announce.

These staggered announcements are just a stalling tactic while Mark and his cronies set up new identities and posh accommodations in remote tropical island locations. This is one way you retire early.

Meanwhile fiat continues to pour into Gox as speculators chase arbitrage. Dumb asses don't realise they won't be able to get more than a trickle out when withdrawals are re-enabled.

I'm buying some goxcoins right now, at these prices, I don't care if it takes months to get them out, as long as I do eventually.

Expect an "it's always darkest before the dawn" style announcement from gox this evening (japan). i've had the pleasure of working for a japanese company going under before, and this is exactly how they staggered it out.

This ^ would be my guess. More delays like "we are testing extensively for another 7 days just to make sure we know that we know that we know that we know that we know the system is good to go."

It's odd how it takes gox a week to deploy a fix for a problem that it supposedly found and other exchanges fix this problem within a couple days. The last couple updates did happen around 7pm. Probably around the time they leave the office so they don't have to deal with all the backlash lol.

I keep mentioning this but Andreas said that the Gox code was so bad that it could take them 2-4 weeks to update. I think many people underestimate how poorly their code was developed, thus causing updates to take many times longer than other exchanges. We just all default to assume its an easy fix.

I think most people would be patient with code issues and be willing to wait for 2-4 weeks for withdrawals if they felt confident that the cash and coins were indeed there and would be available. Gox has not been transparent and has left everyone feeling uneasy which is what caused such panic.

o.O I make multiple backups of wallets before I even fund them... Bitcoins have to be the easiest asset to protect, I can make as many copies as I want! I wish I could do that with my car.

Maybe he lives in Niggeria or something? takes 2-3 hours per month for me. running stock reference client. maybe something is off. let me know It used to take a long time, back in early 2013. The reference client used some terrible flat file database system and it was basically disk I/O bound trying to download and validate transactions. The newer version switched to a different database type that is considerably faster, and typically network bound.

The blockchain has grown alot and is quickly approaching 20GB last time I downloaded it from scratch it took 5 days. The bitcoin qt is just slow I found it much faster just to use the torrent and have everything downloaded in less then 1 hour.
