Listen for the number, call-in and ask about Bitcoin tomorrow at the times above. He takes in about 50 callers when he announces the number so be quick. If a good portion of the first people trying are us, Bitcoin will be mentioned on his show once again.

Try to mention that it threatens "the globalist agenda", "the fed", etc. We need a good discussion.

Good luck guys. Let's fight the good fight.

We should get Alex and Bruce together. A conspiracy theory nutcase and a convicted scammer - who better than them to promote bitcoin?

Please don't associate Bitcoin with crazy people.  I know you can get customers if you advertise at the local insane asylum but they will scare the rest of your potential customers away.

Call in to business related shows on mainstream outlets and talk about the sound economic foundations of Bitcoin if you want to generate good PR.

Is Alex Jones the new Art Bell or is he a different kind of tinfoil hatter?

All I can say is that this is Bitcoin. I don't believe it until I see six confirmations.

Any PR is good PR. We are kind of desperate for PR at this point. Price keeps falling. Wonder what is next ? $2 maybe ?

Nice analogy. I like you took the initiative for this. Too much stagnation in the community. Too many ideas but nobody doing anything etc.

Did the 9/11 truthers find fuel with Alex Jones?  Or does it remain a niche conspiracy theory way outside the mainstream?

Most people I know question the government's purported involvement in 9/11. I do. The fact is the government knew about the plans of the attacks before they happened and they did nothing. It's reasonable to question what actually happened and Alex Jones, in fact, helped spread this knowledge.

However, it's irrelevant. Alex Jone's has a market that will help Bitcoin.

Alex reaches millions of people that are sick of the Federal Reserve.  If you stay away from the cryptography and the mining, and focus only on the reasons WHY people USE bitcoins, you'll have a good discussion that won't go off on tangents.

I echo that. Alex Jones should have been brought into this sooner. They are the kinds of people that fit the average Bitcoin user profile.

What a disaster.

Immanuel, despite other's concerns, you're steaming ahead with this train wreck of an idea?!

Please.. we don't need more users, we need more merchants first.  You're inviting the sort of users who scare off merchants.

I'm going to stop updating the press hits thread now I think.  It's probably better that a larger variety of people update it anyway - but really I dread the sort of PR that an association with Alex Jones types may bring.

Perhaps one of us should let slip the fact that bitcoin mining is actually calculating secret new world order stuff; scaring the Alex Jones army off with their own sort of silliness might be the only option Tongue

As a PR professional I can assure you that driving your product towards acceptance among a group of consumers not only outside the mainstream, but in strong opposition to the mainstream, is not a productive tactic towards cultivating mainstream acceptance of your product.

The market in the United States, for example, tends to be hostile towards those who say their friends and family in the military are actually across the world defending the conspiratorial regime of a gaggle of criminals rather than fighting for freedom and security for their country.

As a counter-proposal to generate good public relations, I would urge you to mount a campaign to contact the creators of the television program "My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic" and urge them to feature bitcoins or a equine bitcoin equivalent in the storyline for an episode.  Polls show that the American public holds 80% approval for friendship and ponies, this is the mainstream audience to target.  You can find contact information here:  http://www.hubworld.com/my-little-pony/shows/friendship-is-magic

Atlas, why do you care about the price of bit coins?  If they are a currency, the only thing that should matter is that their value remain stable enough for vendors to use them.  Why do you want to encourage a pump and dump by getting a large influx of new users with nowhere to spend the bit coins?

I suspect that the survivalist types will find ways to spend Bitcoins on purchases they want kept "off the radar", but I doubt they'll be supporters of the exchanges or any other Bitcoin business which keeps records of their purchases and/or identity - so I'm not sure that they'll do much to shore up falling prices on the exchanges.

All I can say is that this is Bitcoin. I don't believe it until I see six confirmations.

They are also the crowd they are because they are fully invested in the world going up in flames any day now, ie: power grid failures, which would kill the internet, and make bitcoins worthless. That is the very reason why they buy gold/silver and seeds and not digital cash.

Unremorsefully, I am highly invested in them but I would get most of my pleasure from seeing them take off in adoption and threaten the centralized banking regimes that litter our world with conflict.

Immanuel, at what price did you invest in Bitcoins?

About a $1.50. That's all I will say.

It seems that you made a massive error by not selling at $30, does it not?

Unremorsefully,

Between here and your little performance in the SA thread, I've seen you start sentences with the word "Unremorsefully" a good 8-10 times in the last day. But never before then.

You have a really shitty word of the day calendar, Atlas.

This thread cracks me up. People are actually pleading for someone not to "ruin" Bitcoin. You guys put way too much faith in a 17 year old blowhard calling up a radio station. Bitcoin is already looked at poorly by ignorant consumers because of e-gold and the massive explosion of online currencies and payment methods available.

Merchant services, corporate solutions. People with money are the ones who will help bring adoption to Bitcoin, not more talentless hippies.

yeah well..  I'm not entirely sure he could 'ruin' bitcoin.. but bringing that crowd in could probably make it even more unpleasant while we're on the way to wherever it is we're going, and maybe even stretch out the timeline a bit.

(isn't *1* bitrebel more than enough??)

power grid failures, which would kill the internet, and make bitcoins worthless.
Nonsense - I'm ready with my solar panels, batteries, satellite uplink, wireless mesh routers, strong antennas and my mining rigs - nothing's gonna stop Bitcoin Grin

Major takeaway from the OP: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a5hYL7SBxvI

Unremorsefully,

Between here and your little performance in the SA thread, I've seen you start sentences with the word "Unremorsefully" a good 8-10 times in the last day. But never before then.

You have a really shitty word of the day calendar, Atlas.

I knew I shouldn't have gone to bed last night, rainingbitcoins. Remorsefully, I wanted to post this.

Quote
About a $1.50. That's all I will say.

Did Rarity uncover A's net worth? Was so nervous when he replied to the question, he spelled "at" incorrectly.

Anybody here remember Mr. Widget on Art Bell's show years ago? Sometimes a radio host will continue airing a weekly guess on the show for entertainment value, alone. I was using Mr. W. as an example, for he proved to scam people later on, but my premise Remains The Same (led Z.). Can you image Atlas on the Alex Jones show at least once a week? Or how about Mancow? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fNpvLR2dP5Q

Bonus Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3E-pHMN4DyA (found the live birth of Atlas by accident--relative?/funny!!)

Hey guys just popping in from reddit to say that the majority of bitcoin users, boosters, detractors and bystanders have already left this forum behind. So if you think this is a good idea or a bad idea don't worry too much about it, nothing is going to get accomplished by this kind of thing because nobody who matters is still here to do anything about it.

Enjoy your increasing and irreversible irrelevance. It's ponzi-scheming price fixations like this that made this forum the single worst place on the internet to realistically discuss bitcoin.

I personally don't care much for overt attempts at marketing bitcoin.  More often than not they don't work and sometimes backfire.  The best way to make bitcoin successful is to simply use it and keep making it better.  It's also not about the exchange rate...the reason people should want bitcoin to be a success is to facilitate digital transactions using a more sound money while preserving people's right to transaction privacy.

Atlas, why do you care about the price of bit coins?  If they are a currency, the only thing that should matter is that their value remain stable enough for vendors to use them.  Why do you want to encourage a pump and dump by getting a large influx of new users with nowhere to spend the bit coins?

Yes but price is related to how many people use it.

If the price drops it means less people use bitcoins.

The show is about to start. Get your phones ready.

Can we do AJ tomorrow? Today I'm booked here:

[Al] Sharpton to broadcast from Occupy Wall Street protests: http://www.cnn.com/2011/10/10/us/occupy-wall-street/

He was just talking about a movie where the protagonist could see the aliens taking over the local political scene... as long as he was wearing his sunglasses.  Muwahaha.

The guy uses the number like a carrot on a stick. It's coming any moment now. You can still help. Get your phone and click the link in the OP...

Again, mention our Bitcoin friends on OccupyWallStreet. Mentioned ending the FED, etc.

Specifically mention #operationbitcoin at #operationwallstreet.

Not necessarily...it can also mean that people are becoming more efficient at using bitcoins.  If I can acquire bitcoins, use them to buy something and the merchant can then sell them in a shorter amount of time than before, then the time that is required to hold bitcoins in order to conduct a transaction is shorter, thereby reducing the the overall number of bitcoins required at any moment in time to support commerce using bitcoin.  I'm not saying this is the case right now, but it's an important factor to consider when thinking about the demand for bitcoins.

He will see through the plot you poor patsy.  Bitcoin is a part of the alien agenda to take over the world disguised as a tool to help lead towards our freedom.

You alien lizard people are making a big mistake trying to pull one over on the wise and powerful Alex Jones.  You will only kill Bicoin and it will ultimately lead to your doom, and Alex Jones will be celebrated as our savior.

FYI - Alex Jones is not exactly fond of OccupyWallStreet. Says it's COINTELPRO.  Shocked Maybe he's just jealous.  Cheesy
