Does any one do these any more as Mike has now stopped creating physical Bitcoin and where can I get them?

Just a side note. Be sure to read up on the fraud issues involved in physical bitcoins. You are really buying a private key that controls a balance. It is important that you have the only copy of that key. An unscrupulous seller might retain a copy and take back your coins later.

That is why it is so sad that Mike is out of the picture, he is trustworthy.

This is why I've never liked physical bitcoins. That's just like, not how they're meant to work xD

Have a look over on the marketplace, but heed the above replies.

Ebay auctions still have some coins listed.
More and more are having to post them as "classified ads"

The sellers may ask you to go through escrow,  as Paypal freezes accounts now (and they also suck for that matter).

That is a good point and I think I won't find a trustworthy seller and hope Mike starts to sell them again any reason why he stopped? If there is any one else that you think is trustworthy let me know.

I have never quite understood what the point of these are.

Isn't it a bit like writing an e-mail in Yahoo...and then printing it out...putting it in a stamped envelope and mailing it to someone?

I think he received a letter warning about the legality of his project. Oh and the poster above has a point. You can mint your own bitcoin money.

Remember when the internet was new and readers could not imagine giving up their books? It is a little weird. But there will always be a market for money you can hold in your hand. At least until all of us who have ever done so have died.

I guess the main reason for physical Bitcoins is the collectors aspect of it.

On a mission to make Bitcointalk.org Marketplace a safer place to Buy/Sell/Trade

I recently purchase several Adam Smith coins from Alitin Mint.  They are very high quality... The finest I've seen.  I would highly recommend them to anyone interested in collecting physical bitcoins. Their website is alitinmint.com

I have an excellent 2012 mint date Casascius 1 BTC coin, still fully funded in my collection that I would be willing to part with.

Asking: BTC1.75, negotiable, including shipping to US. Outside US will probably be extra.

PM me if interested. Due to recent attempts to counterfeit these coins, I will only make proof pics available to serious buyers. You must show address with the required BTC amount, and sign a message with it, proving you own it.

Enjoy,    Smiley
