Depends on the coin and how you intend to do mining... ASIC or GPU miner... Minimum estimated price is kinda  vague, because it depends what you'd like to achieve. You can put together one el cheapo computer for maybe 500 dollars and you can possiby earn 1 dollar per day... Or you can invest 10000 dollars and buy some asics (if you are able to get any...).

You could buy used mining rig for arround 1500-2000$.
But return of investment right now is quite long.
I think right now it's better to invest that money in buying some coins than start mining.

First, i’d like to know, why do you want to invest in mining and not buy coins?
Secondly, do you have any experience, meaning - do you want to build your own rig or buy plug’n’go device, like ours?
Do you understand that mining is a very slow and longterm investment, you will not be able to cash out quickly?

Well, it's not that expensive to start mining, with just 1 GPU, for example gtx 1060, you could build a mining rig, price is just ~500$. But for something like investment in mining, you should consider it carefully: GPU or Asics, electric prices, ROI... Also keep in mind that it's getting harder for gpu mining these days.

what kind of questions are this. Did you learn the math in school? First take a read of mining so you will have a clue what are you getting into.

Before you start mining,

The price you pay for power under 10 cents is decent. 20 cents a kwatt is very hard.

5 cents is really good.

So if you have cheap power. How much do you have?

And how tolerant of noise are you?

I could sell you a used 1080ti waterblock rig for about  3500 usd with

Six 1080tis. It would earn 9 bucks a day. ..

It would be quiet and use about 1200 watts.   That is about three a day in power cost.

So six profit x 600 = 3600

It is paid off In 20 months and the cards have 27 months on warranty.

There is a small amount of information in your question.

Looks like you have not been mining before. Which means that it would be easier to buy a plug-n-mine rig, which needs lees knowledge than if you build your own. That already helps you limit your options.

You can buy a rig from the miners that are switching off their equipment or a new one. The prices will differ drastically, but from a longterm position i would suggest a new rig.

Then, consider different mining algorythms. Where you thinking of any specific altcoin?

What are electricity prices in your location?

Even though, we might helps you with some choices, make your own basic profit calculations before you make a decision.

It depends on what you want to do, you can invest a couple hundred dollars or tens of thousands.

Before investing though, I would recommend you take a look at this thread: [CryptoNight] CPU mining guide & coins that will get you a return
You can mine using your CPU.

I see a lot of people jumping head first into mining and investing large sums of money knowing too little about the subject.

vlad230, I often read that's topic, I agree if OP just want to know the mining process first with use CPU before investing to ASICs or Mining Rig, but if OP wants to get profitable on Mining with CPU, I think that's not exactly.

If you start out with a weaker rig, you’ll be making less after breaking even, but at the same time, you’re risking more money by buying stronger GPUs. A lot of people are starting to let go of their rigs in bulk or selling GPUs at a good discount in bulk at the moment- I would consider looking on eBay or a similar site for GPUs and miscellaneous parts, or even Computer Hardware in this forum. Make sure you are using escrow if you’re proceeding with the latter option.

good advice, man.

Indeed a dilemma when someone wants to start to mining for this year. I don't have reason to reassuring whether buy to new gear or secondhand even to investing in some coins for this time at the market is very terrible and difficult to predict.
