http://bitcointalkautoreply.org this is a spam bot being promoted for a few weeks now, I'd like to request for auto banning anybody posting this link except me of course.

This idiot is also spreading the links to show how it works, admin take a look to see how it works and how we could stop them.

At this point, i would recommend :
1. Disable/remove signature for everyone
2. More strict/difficult CAPTCHA
3. Requiring CAPTCHA when post

Maybe new forum will solve all problem we have Roll Eyes

Captcha is easlily bypassed by "captcha data entry workers".

https://moneyconnexion.com/captcha-work.htm

Nearly half of the world's population which is more than 3 billion people live on less than $2.50 a day.
(Source: https://www.dosomething.org/us/facts/11-facts-about-global-poverty)

Captcha won't deter spammers or scammers - but it will annoy plenty of genuine forum members.

Perhaps a post trust network - similar to the trust network could work. Where you if you are trusted by several people you get your captcha removed.
If you post spam your captcha returns as well as the captcha for the people that vouched for you !

Similarly - people who have a certain number of accurately reported posts become spam monitors. Five independent reports (based on clear agreed upon criteria)  from spam monitors get a post removed without moderator input. Monitors that abuse that feature lose that privilege.
Both complaints and removed posts are able to be evaluated by moderators at any time.

We are surrounded by legends on this forum. Phenomenal successes and catastrophic failures. Then there are the scams. This forum is a digital museum.

Banning Ann threads without having solid proof is not a solution. What then?

I would like to see something similar to patrol, but for all account levels. That would make it much easier to detect all accounts involved in the spam.

Also, I wouldn't mind a "cleanup" of all unused accounts (with 0 posts): ban them all once they're a month old without posts. I suspect many spammers have been stockpiling accounts, as they often use older accounts for their spam runs.

Captcha is easlily bypassed by "captcha data entry workers".
And signatures aren't the cause of spambots bumping ICO threads either, so none of these solutions will work.

Just a few words about captcha. Have you ever seen an entire Chinese (or another Asian, African whatever; it`s just for example) village solving captchas for bots? I have  Wink $1 for 500 or smth it was. There are still services that provide such help. So I don`t think, this will completely solve the case. But indeed it can make a life more difficult for spammers. And for regular users as well  Grin

I think I might of nuked this guy before even seeing this thread. He kept posting this bullshit all over the place. I believe they have already tried with other accounts since though.

In addition to the ways mentioned on this thread for passing captcha, there are some other options as well. Without paying anything, it can be bypassed. I am not going to disclose those methods because more people will then abuse it.

Now, we can have additional security check for login but it will affect the user experience of a genuine member.

Yes I reported one of their posts before opening this thread. can we at least censor the link? it's a spam bot after all. http://[suspicious link removed].org would do the job.
