You mean, why are there only a few exchanges? Use the search button, this was asked already many times (why the prices differ).

Why isn't there only one gold shop in the entire world? Who needs 2 or 2,000?

There actually aren't enough exchanges. Think of how many exchanges there are, and then think of how many countries there are. There isn't even 1 exchange for every 3 countries. There isn't even really a major exchange for each continent.

Arbitrage exists based on liquidity and the ability to transfer coins easily between them Security concerns sometimes impact prices like with gox leading to different prices

1 Bitcoin is worth 1 Bitcoin, so yes, they are all the same value, but people pay different prices for them with fiat. Are all items the same price in different stops too?

We need at least 1 exchange for each currency, and there just isn't enough for them.

Each currency? That would take forever.

Each currency? That would take forever. Yeah, that would be a new exchange every day. Have you tried clicking "show unread posts since last visit" lately? An exchange for each currency would make crypto look like a joke to the entire world...
