There's a few used S9's for sale local to me. I haven't bought a used miner before so I'm curious if I should pass on them or move forward with the purchase? He says he has approximately 70 hours on the miners and would take $550 including the PSU.

I'm currently running one S9i in my basement and plan to add 3 more rigs. The used ones are S9 not S9i.

Thanks

The price sounds appealing.

I would ask them to provide you with the purchase/shipping details to at least validate the possibility of them only having 70 hours.

Also be sure to see them running and check the logs to show they are performing as expected. Should be easy with them being local.

Also get them to agree to handle any correspondance required for warranty repair should an issue arise within the warranty period.

Good luck.

Just for reference this probably should have been posted in mining speculation.

It kind of depends on what you want to do, you can buy a brand new S9i 14TH without PSU for $564 from Bitmain and it will come with a 180 day warranty. If you go used, the warranty might not be available or if it is you'll need to go through your seller for any warranty claims as Steamtyme said.

Awesome, thanks for the info guys.

I'd like another new S9i but the $120 in shipping is brutal.

New S9's are cheap, just order straight from Bitmain. Though personally I have some used s7's that have hashed really well but you never know if people are off loading lemons. Just be careful.

Yeah, I think I'll just pick up a new one instead of 2 used ones. The price is appealing but it seems the unknowns outweigh the benefits. I'm way to new in this space to be able to muddy my way through lemon S9s.

Thanks again
