They most certainly can spill lies and they continue to do so. Although the internet is a HUGE deal and it is just getting bigger, TV is still a huge deal. Millions of people watch TV in the US for many hours everyday. People who are actually interested in "the news" don't turn on Facebook or YouTube. They turn on what has always been to them "the news". That would be the big TV new outlets and the big newspapers. I do think that the big news outlets' influence is gradually getting weaker, but it's far from being gone. Keep in mind that some fake news is purposefully produced to cause confusion. There are people with a vested interest in having you feel like you can't believe anyone.

Well, there are various distortion of news items nowadays between the internet and the news stations.People can easily read from bloggers on the internet so in the quest to attract attention from the public, the bloggers will intentionally twist the story.Sometimes too the media houses want to hide the truth but thanks to bloggers who exposes it.so it is a dicey area between media houses and bloggers powered by the internet.

Are you saying that bloggers tell lies, so people will read them instead of watching the news stations? I don't know if twisting facts is their main tool to gain viewers. News stations do that enough themselves. I think there is one thing people may neglect to consider in this "battle between bloggers and news stations". Bloggers can be anybody! Nothing is stopping the same people that are producing fake news on TV from spreading fake news through blogs and other places on the Internet. It's so hard to know who you can trust. Even if your good trusted friends shares some news with you, you first need to check the sources and try to figure out if it's true or not.

This, internet provides way more easy to access and judge sources. There's barely any point in watching TV nowadays.
