Hello, I believe I found a regression that explains why my 1060s were running slower on newest versions.

Two of my cards have poor thermal performance and run hot. I have noticed that on one of my rigs MiniZ runs the hot cards in a different algorithm configuration (the vram usage is higher and the wattage is lower). However, in the other of my rigs, it runs the wrong card in this "hot mode".

If I am correct in understanding how MiniZ works, on this rig my hot card is getting thermally limited by the drivers (and running unoptimally) while simultaniously a cool card is getting limited by MiniZ, running unnecessarily low wattage.

Hope this helps

Hi 1ncehost,
sorry for the late reply.
Thank you for letting us know.

miniZ requires 2.7Gb of memory to run at full speed, but on Windows the cards may run sub-optimally (specially the 3Gb cards, which are close to the limit value) because the OS drivers consume more memory. If this happens miniZ runs a different mode (usually mode 2 for GTX 1060 3GB). This problem should not happen in Linux.

Cheers

Heads up,
I couldnt get this Miner to successfully run my 6x1070 rig.
Turns out that the 16gb Virtual memory i had set on Windows was not enough.
Bumped it up to 18gb (18432) and it was able to start mining.
It actually seemed like it wasnt going to run, and eventually fired up.
I think i need to bump up to at least 20gb virtual mem, but do not have that available on this rig.
Im going to hook up another SSD and set the virtual mem to it instead.

I had the same issue trying to run another miner (BEAM).
even though i have 8gb ram and all 6 GPUs have 8gb, the virtual memory was not enough on my system to run it.
(A 60gb ssd in windows does not hold up over time)

hope this helps someone.
Hi thereal35,
thank you for sharing your findings with everyone.
Indeed page file needs to be set to high values. To be on the safe side, the best is to set it approximately to the sum of all GPUs memories.

Others have also shared some thoughts/experiences on this matter. See:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=4767892.msg48173601#msg48173601

Cheers

Hi everyone,

Thanks everyone for all your support and feedback!

There is a new miniZ miner version v1.0j!

* Speed improvement up to ~4%, depending on GPU.
* Current/average power added to console and log/output file.
* Current/average total power added to console and log/output file.
* Added accepted share efficiency per GPU, expressed as a percentage (Accepted Shares/Total Shares * 100)
* Added --shares-detail option to show accepted/rejected shares per GPU, instead of accepted share efficiency.
* Added --log-delay option to define the time to wait (in seconds) before starting periodic writes to the log/output file.
* Added --log-period option to define the time interval (in seconds) between periodic writes to the log/output file.
* Added --f11 option for small tuning. (see Usage page)
* Windows Cuda 10.0 version (excluded Cuda 9.2).
* Bug fixes.

Hive OS support @ https://miniz.ch/2018/11/29/hive-os-support/

Like the previous version, we added support for RTX 20xx GPUs. If you happen to try miniZ on these GPUs, give us feedback so that we can keep improving the miner.

Use Cuda 10.0 versions with the RTX GPUs. Other GPUs should perform better with Cuda 8.0 versions.

For more information, download, and support check the website: https://miniz.ch/
Download miniZ miner here: https://miniz.ch/download/

Happy mining!

Thank you for the feedback.
Check the new version v1.0j! Check also cuda 8.0 variant.
If you can, do let us know if the new v1.0j resolves the problem.

Hi daem0n,

we checked the download links and we found no problem.
They work just fine.

Could you be more specific to which links you are referring to?

Cheers

Hi daem0n,

we did not experience what you report. We tested from different connections/locations.

We hope this was a temporary issue and that all is back to normal.

When grin will be supporting?
Hi joginvik1,
at the moment we are not supporting grin mining.
We are not considering it either, at least in the near future.
If many people ask for grin support we may reconsider.
Thanks for your interest.

Hi everyone,

Thank you all staying with us, for your support and feedback!

There is a new miniZ miner version v1.1kSmiley

 * Support for Equihash 96,5 (MinexCoin).
 * Speed improvement up to ~6%, depending on GPU and OC settings.
 * Modified miner behavior when all user pools are down: miner stops mining and tries to reconnect every minute.
 * Cleaner console exit status for better OS management.
 * Bug fixes.

Hive OS support @ https://miniz.ch/2019/02/22/hive-os-support-2/

Use Cuda 10.0 versions with the RTX GPUs. For other GPUs you should test and see which performs best.

For more information, download, and support check the website: https://miniz.ch/

Just d/l the miner and it up and runs right off but where is the config file?? Maybe I am blind but the miner says "no pool specified" obviously because I haven't set up a config file and don't see one in the zip or the miner file? Thanks. The speeds look terrific in comparison to Gminer so I would really like to make this work. Thanks again

Hi supervitek,
thanks for the message.

The intensity option works, however it is true that it can be improved. We will certainly work on this for the next version. Smiley
For the moment you can try --intensity=10 and you will see that the miner will run slower.

If this is not what you expect, can you clarify what you mean by "not working"?

Cheers

Hi BigHarryArmsi,

thank you for the feedback.
There is no config file. On Windows, you can create a .bat file to launch miniZ with your personalised settings.

On Windows it is something like this, for BitcoinZ and 2miners pool:

 miniZ.exe --url YourAddress.WorkerName@btcz.2miners.com:2020 --log --gpu-line --extra

You can also run miniZ by just writing the same line on the command shell. Do not forget to modify it to meet your needs.

For more examples you can check here https://miniz.ch/usage/
Also, we created a few posts for most of the supported coins. Check here https://miniz.ch/category/usage/

We hope these tips will work for you.
Feel free to ask for further help, if needed.

Cheers

I'm sorry. Please forgive my ignorance. I don't see where this information is supposed to go? Easy enough to input the correct info but where does this information go?
Do I delete this >>>SHA256 (miniZ.exe) = e35ea131810e49dcdfb4e14e557616b83362fa58310691916d0e4fd666863ef3<< and then rewrite the whole corrected line?
Also, at Equipool there is a password to control payout. where would I add that? Thank you again and please forgive my ignorance.
