I have been in the forum for a while now and I have come across several threads and post by obsessed members relating to they not receiving merits for their posts(base on subjectivity). Most of these individuals have lower ranks in the forum and being part of this sect, I always take time to go through the submissions(replies) by other members and I found most of them being useful. Some of these submissions were from merit givers (merit sources, members with higher ranks etc), so I took them seriously and decided share with my fellows in this situation. Reading the replies of other members, I realized that most of them made an emphasis on poor construction and issues relating to grammatical errors. Some people may have good ideas and submissions to share but expressing it becomes a problem. Bad grammar, spelling mistakes, punctuational errors change the meaning of intended messages and decrease the quality of a post. Having these problems at hand, I will like to share with forum members a tool that I been using which I think might be of good use to everyone. And it goes by the name G R A M M A R LY. Grammarly is a cloud-based English-language writing-enhancement platform developed by Grammarly, Inc. The software was first released in late 2009. Grammarly's proofreading and plagiarism-detection resources[4] check against more than 250 grammar rules. Some benefits of Grammarly: 1. Get a thorough grammar check. 2. Fix tricky spelling errors. 3. Say goodbye to punctuation errors. For flexibility and portability sake, they have a mobile application and a chrome extension to meet diverse user needs. My personal advice: The concept of merit can be related to real life occurrences. We are always advised to do good and expect no reward in return. The same idea applies to merit. At the right time, we will all be rewarded accordingly. Visit https://www.grammarly.com/ now to get the tool integrated into your browser or get the mobile version on Google playstore.

Can I add one more tip ? Just make a thread about merit in meta section and hope for merits.
Edit : This is sarcasm which some members failed to get as I see after reading comments.

And then you get instantly ignored by a number of forum's established members. OP, do you think English is the only problem for not receiving enough merits? Wrong, even if a post is written in broken English but has good content, it will get the merits it deserves. Adding Grammarly to chrome is not a bad option but it doesn't enhance or promote quality content. A post could be written in perfect error-free English but if it lacks the original content, it's worthless. Many people live in a wrong intuition that they don't get enough merits just because of their English sucks. Truth is, they barely post quality content.

. Makes me wonder what should come first : a good quality post or merits ? To determine if the post of a member is worthy if merits, should we consider the current merits he has ? A new member will never get any that way.

If you are really smart, you would realize what I posted has many use cases aside it being utilized in the forum.

Broken English? Be reminded good English can be ambiguous. Besides, read what I posted well. There was no assurance that English guarantees Merits. You're trying to say good English doesn't enhance quality post? That's sounds weird. Then I guess content written in Chinese would make sense to a native English speaker lol.

I guess sarcasm is really the way to go to get merits. Haha. Too bad I am not sarcastic. But good advise nonetheless by the OP. It just so happened it's in the wrong thread. Hopefully by moving it to the right one will receive merits.

< ... >
Lots of available topics in the forum on "How to earn merits?", "Guideline on how to get merits", etc. Honestly, I think that there are lots of available topics are really better than yours. So, my question for you are: 1) Why you did not using search function before creating the topic? 2) Why you did not contribute your ideas in those available topics?
To sum up, I don't see reasonable reasons to start new topic on this aspect

I`m curious. How long have you been using grammarly? Because all that I can see is that you have zero merits. So maybe, and just to be more accurate, you can introduce how long after installing grammarly other users are going to earn any merit... (maybe when you earn your very first you will be able to complete your post). Man, this is another merit thread in the Meta board. It is just like if someone begins to sell hotdogs in an avenue and get rich so many others begin to follow his example and decide to sell hot dogs as well. That never works in real life, for the first and the original idea is usually the one being rewarded. Besides, the grammarly stuff is well known (I use it myself) and have been mentioned many times (I`ve mentioned it a couple of times, maybe more, as well as other users) and no. Grammarly is not going to give you any merit, the imagination, the creativity, the actual use of a think you have called "brain" is going to give you some. Anyway, good try.

Busted This is really nice that such good member here is introducing Grammarly saying that it will increase the chances of getting Merit. But even OP itself can't even receive a single Merit. Sorry OP, it's just funny. But I think giving advice to other members is not the main objective why OP created this topic, it's more likely that his intention is to somehow get his first Merit from doing this thread. Too bad OP, it won't work that way. Also, please be aware. seoincorporation really hates spam threads made here in Meta Section.

He's trying though... he can see people all around him having success with these methods. Here's some tips to make this post work a bit better. Warning: Not actually Merit Advice, this is purely for entertainment. I am not your Merit Advisor. DYOR.
1) Act super snarky and condescending when posting this. It really shows that you are indeed better than those around you. 2) Gotta get some merit first to make this post seem more meaningful.. otherwise, you seem like that lame desperate car salesman with 2 cars for sale vs the lame desperate car salesman with 4. 3) Do filler posts that you don't create dedicated to making fun or belittling others towards their attempts to gain merit.. make sure to look through their posts and point out past flaws. 4) Make sure to offer your signature for sale as well, to invite people to privately bid on your precious space for rent. Nothing makes people think you are legendary more than promoting yourself as one before you even get halfway there.
Good luck on your journey.

This is like a half-joke to me than a sarcasm. This contains half-truth -- based on the current statistics, Meta board is one of the boards that has high rate of giving merits. I hope that there will be sufficient merit-givers (merit source?) all across the forum (on all the boards). So that the bias of posting on one thread just to earn a merit will be removed.

OP this tool isn't anything new And boom, another thread about merit lol This thread is less about merits than it is a blatant advertisement for grammarly. Is "punctuational" an actual word? Never heard that one before. In college once, I was on videotape as making up the word "dissolvage". Don't know how I came up with that one, but it's something that's embarrassed me ever since. Does grammarly catch such word mutations?

Let me tell you my experience. When the merit system was introduced, members used to shower merits on post related to merits. There was a thread from a new member praising the merit system and it got above 50 merit points from 15-20 members in just few hours. The situation is changed now. Members have realized the some are making these posts with the intention of getting merits only. So, it will not work now, some may put you on their ignore list though.

Anyway, good try. how do you express your creativity then? What I'm trying to say is that, it has a role to play in good content. Assuming you want to invest in a project, you visit their site and the content there aren't properly constructed, spelling errors and so on. What would be your first impression? Besides the fact that you've posted several times about grammarly doesn't mean everyone on here knows about it. Who knows, this might be the first time someone is hearing of grammarly.
