There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, which will follow the rules of the network no matter what miners do. Even if every miner decided to create 1000 bitcoins per block, full nodes would stick to the rules and reject those blocks.

Butterfly Labs, are they a scam? Is it 2012 again? Other than taking forever to ship, they deliver on their promise most of the time. A few customers out of thousands claim they were scammed and/or money was stolen/not refunded. |

Depends on how you define scam but the short answer is that if you order from them you will regret it (and potentially feel very angry and abused by the time your interactions with them are concluded).
