Welcome to the future of Betting
Hello from BetProtocol!
Our team has been working on this project for some time and we thought it would be a good time to introduce ourselves to the Bitcointalk community, as the first proof of concept is under way and is going to be ready in Q4 2018.
We are creating a betting protocol that connects developers to decentralized programmable blockchain resources to create a new paradigm of online betting systems and infrastructure.
Our goal is to provide a blockchain agnostic set of tools (that works with Ethereum! and future blockchains if necessary) that drastically lowers the barrier of entry for betting application developers by providing white-label systems and a library of useful APIs and microservices for KYC/AML, odds generation, event resolution, disputes, and payments.
When online betting first began, pioneering firms and users faced a large gauntlet of challenges and dangers. On the developer side, hard problems such as regulation, licenses, KYC/AML, payments, odds generation, event resolution, disputes, and uptime were very difficult to solve. On the player side, the main issue of trust, or the “if I give these random people on the Internet my credit card, will I regret it? problem has never been sufficiently addressed. As online betting evolved, player confidence has increased to encompass online betting firms with traction and established reputation. However the downside to this is it’s very difficult for new firms to enter into the market as trust is not transferable–there is no way to confidently & objectively check an online betting firm’s reputation score at a glance.
That brings us to another point: new entrants need to duplicate the work that their incumbent competitors already have done, namely: regulation, licenses, KYC/AML, payments, odds generation, etc...in order to gain that player trust. Online betting suffers from fragmentation/silos on the developer side, and lack of transparency and trust on the player side. This is the fundamental problem that we seek to solve.
BetProtocol is a betting protocol where regulation, licensing, compliance, and safety will be handled on the protocol level. We believe that by providing these turnkey solutions to betting app developers, we will free them to focus on content and form while simultaneously lowering the barrier of entry to new entrants and reducing the current operating costs of incumbents. Such benefits will lead to a proliferation of betting apps unlocking a new, multi-billion dollar, regulated crypto-betting industry.
