The transaction is there, I checked on omniwallet and omniexplorer. I just need to get the private key from localbitcoins. How can I do that? I've already opened a ticket, will they give me the private key?
The Bitcoin network protocol was designed to be extremely flexible. It can be used to create timed transactions, escrow transactions, multi-signature transactions, etc. The current features of the client only hint at what will be possible in the future.

you have done a good and correct step by sending a ticket, and I think you just need to be patient and wait.

I would say wait for the support to respond, but they might need to validate that you and your friend are the valid persons who made this transaction. If all goes well, you might get access to it. Hope the luck will be in the favor of you and the next time dont make such dumb moves and if you don't get your money back, let this be a good lesson for you.

Is it possible to send Tether to a localbitcoins wallet?I thought that localbitcoins don`t support tether trnasactions. They support only btc, ethereum, litecoin, ripple.
I can't see the problem here.If your friend sent you coins, why don`t you just send those coins back?

I would say that it is unfortunately lost. Localbitcoins don't take tether so if your friend sent it to your bitcoin wallet it is as good as burned. If you're lucky their support will help you but i can't think what they can do

Did you explain them the situation about how you received USDT to your LBC BTC address? Obviously they won't give you the private key, but maybe, just maybe they could recover the USDT for you and send them to the correct address?

Seeing how most exchanges have explicit policies about not recovering tokens and accidental cross-chain transactions your chances are rather slim, but if you haven't tried it already it might be a more actionable request rather than asking for the private key directly.

It would be wise that OP posted this ( it can be moved ) to Bitcoin Technical Support, but he/she made a a classic mistake which can only be corrected by good will of LocalBitcoins. Problem is that exchanges do not want to resolve such things, it take lot of time for them and it is undermines security of their service.

It is possible to send USDT to LocalBitcoins or any other exchange just because USDT addresses are compatible ( unfortunately ) with BTC addresses. This is neither the first nor the last time that this is happening, before sending any coin it's important to check what coin you will send and to what address.

Is it just a mistake or just ignorance is less important in this story, coins are very likely lost...

Does anyone have an idea, since LCB did not want to help me, saying web wallets have no private key etc. If the money is just stuck, will binance help my friend get his money back? He sent them a message already.

I take it your friend sent the USDT from his Binance account? If the transaction is already confirmed I'm afraid there's nothing that Binance can do about it. Bitcoin transactions are final and as such can not be reversed.

it's not likely going to happen  Undecided
and since localbitcoins doesn't trade USDT, they will not even bother trying to recover it
you can keep try requesting support to recover it, maybe they will change their minds or simply ignore you Lips sealed

you can't really say it's your own address if you don't have its private key or full control of it
all deposit addresses in exchange and webwallet belong to that business entity, not their users

USDT has (partially) the same adresses as Bitcoin. Afaik all legacy bitcoin adresses are also valid USDT adresses.

Yep, long confirmed. I don't understand what is such a big problem for Localbitcoins to give me the private key to my own btc address ffs..

I can. There's multiple reasons.

1. They don't want to set a precedent. If they recover yours, they might have to recover dozens and dozens of other coins, which leads me to #2.
2. Their system probably doesn't show private keys to their employees, and thus this would mean that either someone really high up in LBC would need to recover your coins, (which is time-consuming, and thus costs a lot of $$$.), or they need to give lower level employees access to all of the customers private keys, which is pretty dangerous considering the privacy bitcoin offers. ( 1 rogue employee could completely destroy their business, and no one would ever know it was him if he were to properly use the blockchain ( Mixers etc.).)

(I'm not saying it's right what they're doing, but unfortunately it's the reality..)

That's the problem with all of these online service without access to the private keys.
It completely depends on their willingness to recover those funds  Undecided  Most of them just ignore it, others recover the funds for a not too small fee.

You should aim to always be in full control of the private keys, to stay in full control of your funds.

Unfortunately there is nothing you can do. If localbitcoins decides to not recover your funds, they most probably won't change their minds.
