No nothing was changed. The block reward goes down when the difficulty goes up. Difficulty was around 300 for a long time and recently increased to 1200. You can check this on the block explorer.

I'm not sure about more details or elements. IMHO coin must look simple and clear.

A solid start (your posting history is a credit to your dedication and talent).

A skeumorphic approach using a realistic-looking coin is the obvious door #1 for the start of any design investigation ... but as you note:

To do that I think you must move away from the realism, losing the detail (which would inevitably be indistinct at typical icon sizes) and working more towards a symbol-like approach (at least purely to have an alternative, something to contrast with the skeumorphic approach). I know it's a tough task but the end result could be worth it.

To have the kind of impact that's expected from a logo/icon/symbol (it plays all three roles) the visual appearance should aim to be distinct from the bulk of the 1001 other wannabe altlitebitcoins, be implemented in svg and should be recognisable even when condensed into a favicon.

I don't know about the ru edition but the en.wikipedia entry http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ducat offers some stimulating background context for feeding the design muse, e.g. "a gold or silver coin used as a **trade coin** in Europe from the later medieval centuries until as late as the 20th century."

It occurs to me that a skeumorphic approach has one inarguable advantage -- it directly renders the item, there's no symbol processing required. This might confer a cross-cultural advantage, free of linguistic concerns.

Is there any actual difference between this coin and others alt-coins ? This currency without need of banks (I'm guessing you meant something like National Bank who's printing money, depending on a country we are talking about, or maybe banks as middle man at different operations) kinda probably most of meta-concurrency. Rate of coin is also surprising, maybe simplicity is the key for success.

I checked there was a 1.5X increase in difficulty from when I went to sleep and 0 ducats have sold at 1 satoshi so you can't really claim that as the value.

It was Unfortunately the server running the pool at http://ducats.p2p.0x0a.nl:35858 went down unexpectedly around 13:00 GMT today. Due to mistakes I made in reboot scripts and the fact that I'm on vacation with little access to internet (Murphy's law..), it has been down for over four hours. I've changed the reboot scripts so that this shouldn't happen again. I apologize for the inconvenience and I will try to make up for it by looking at the last payouts + rate of blocks so that I can pay you all what you should have received for the four hour gap as soon as I can. I heard one bitcointalk member had to resort to mining until his transaction went through for a different coin. Maybe if your wallet mines a block your transaction gets included in it and your coins get sent.

We have tons of transactions sitting at 0 confirmations, both in and out. No dev word, no updated source code. We have no idea whats going on with this coin.

We read in another thread to try a salvagewallet command so we're running that now.

But since the day we put this coin in transfers in and out have been sitting at 0 confirmations. For weeks.

Starting with -salvagewallet returned all the 0 confirmation transactions. We manually upped the fee and have started sending the coins out and it seems to work.

Ducats is broken. The standard fee the wallet figures is NOT enough and is itself rejected as too low. Thats absurd.
