Why always have it in that area? The Valencia Corridor and the Mission District are jammed up for parking and so crime ridden that I'm afraid to even leave my car in a garage there. Honestly, I don't even walk down the street there after dark. BTW: 16th and Mission near the adult bookstore is drug and prostitute ground zero. That's why there is a police station a block away and a patrol car driving by every 5 minutes. That's only one block away from where you want to have this gathering? Why not have it out in the Avenues or maybe Park Merced somewhere? Christ, even the Haight would be better than that.

I'm open to alternative venues for next time. The only requirement is that it be close to BART. Any suggestions?

Some shady stuff does happen in that neighborhood, but no one is going to bother you. I walked through there nightly for over a year and never felt threatened by anyone. If you are afraid to even leave your car in a garage, I think you're being overly cautious.
