I am new to mining and have worked with a few different exchanges.  My experience with Cryptsy has been bad.  It has taken most of my deposits 3-10 days to show up.  Is this normal for this exchange?  I still have a few pending deposits that have been waiting days but at this point I am thinking they are a scam.

definitely not a scam.

I used cryptsy many times and without any trouble. I've read about some, but most of them were solved soon.
Confirmation period variates with coins and amount. But days? That's too much, try to contact support.

P.S. do not mine directly into cryptsy wallet

Cryptsy is legit.
I never had any trouble with them, and they fixed the issues quite quickly.

They practice insider trading, they freeze funds of its users sometimes while a certain coins are being massively dumped and then when the dump is over and the price has plummeted then vooolaaa you get access to your coins again

So far everything has been good here. Everything showed up fast and didn't have any problems. Maybe they are having technical issues.

Cryptsy has been having a few problems lately I've noticed with my account, But everything has cleared up either on its own or a simple e-mail to support and they where prompt at fixing my issues... They are a great exchange, But like any exchange NEVER keep your coins in the exchange. Only use the exchange for trading and dump the money back into an offline wallet on your computer. That way a 17 y/old kid cant hack your account and take all your coins that you worked so hard for lol  Grin

Check out our new pool at www.nibirupool.com

Thanks and happy mining!

Cryptsy is being the major exchange for a reason - it's not a scam. Overall it's working good, but every now and then deposits take long time to process.

Also, I think it would benefit all of us if there were at least one more exchange of the same size to increase competition.
