So a friend of mine today cried a river and his soul is still in anguish. His private key to his ERC20 wallet was compromised and his account got hacked, the attacker has moved all ETH and some valuable tokens, he tried to send in some ETH to move out the remaining tokens to a new safe wallet, each time he does that, the attacker quickly move out the tokens. We are currently waiting for the hacker to send in ETH in other to complete his stealing of the left over tokens. Now, he confused to saved his private key and 2FA private key in an online storage wallet that got hacked.
SOME TIPS TO STAYING SAFE:
> Never store your private keys online, try to write them down on offline paper with pen and keep it secured. > When trading on a decentralized exchange, try using Metamask in connecting with the exchange, this way your private key is off the exchange. > Try using 2FA in your accounts or wallets that have it on. >Use a separate email for your airdrop, bounty, wallet and exchanges. >Try using a very strong password and avoid using same password for all wallets and exchanges. >Never send your private key at any request by any site or project. keep it private. >Try to store your tokens in different wallets and not just one wallet.
I wish everyone best of luck in this space.
