Exchange

This thread is dedicated to resurrecting the old Sprouts for those that are currently using the old wallet v0.1.2.2-gd0cbc83

Let's discuss on how we can continue Sprouts Classic by seeing if we can add it to an exchange.  One proposal was to donate to a pool which will go towards putting it to an exchange.  We will need to see which exchange we can put it on.  All suggestions are welcomed.

Let's see what will happen

I'm in!

Hardfork killed Sprouts by taking away rewards and leaving total supply.

Before anything we also need a Telegram or something to discuss properly.

I'll donate some old sprouts.

The price to get added to Yobit.Net is not that high.  Either: 0.0 btc, 0.1 btc, or 0.5 btc.

https://yobit.net/en/addcoin/

But some hurdles will need to be overcome for this coin to be added to yobit.

1. DZPrince will need to lose his newbie rank.
2. An image will need to be added to the OP here.
3. Some nodes may need to be added to the source code.

if the proposal has been accepted, I think there are no more obstacles to going forward, provided the team continues to be competent to fight for something that must be fought for

Hi arcmetal,

Thanks for joining our fight in trying to get the old Sprouts/Sprouts Classic back.  I also have some Sprouts to donate.  This is justice for the new Sprouts team causing the turmoil and decline of this coin.  It was fine before they did their hard fork.  The burning idea was great but it didn’t take off well.  I know I have to get my newbie rank but I need to post more, become more trusted.  I don’t know how long it will take.  If someone who has a higher ranking can assist and I can be an associate.  I remember that through the previous discussions it was you, jennyblockchain and I who were in the same mindset to get Sprouts Classic back.  For the image, I believe we will have to create a new one or can we use the previous image (We would probably need the permission from the previous owner)?  With regards to the source code that would require a programmer.  I am familiar with some programming such as Visual Basic, C#, C, C++.  I will have to download it and become familiar with this technology.  You also said some nodes may need to be added.  If there is anything else that you or anyone else can think of or we can delegate tasks, that would be great.

For those of us who stake and trade Sprouts for a while, but don't keep up on everything in every thread, can you explain the difference between the two Sprouts?

I'll support this. Just need an exchange and I can promote this coin again in my book and streams.

Oh crypto hub online would be decent. It's 30000 croc or less depending on auction so that's about $1000 usd to list the coin there.

Oh also, we need addnodes. I've got zero connections at the moment. I could consider paying and installing an explorer for sprouts but somoene has to handle the community and the exchange part. My hands are already full with 808coin/compc oin and my own coin.

But i'll be happy to promote sprouts again as my presence online is growing.

Ok good news I will pay for exporer and install it. I will let everyone know when it's running. I'll make sure it's using the wallet version from this thread or else it won't work, obviously.

We won't let idiot financial morons take away our sprouts classic!

God bless you Bastillar Grin.  I totally trust you from your 808 coin giveaways on twitch and I follow you on YouTube, twitter.  For those that do not know Bastillar, he does what he says and even has a book to help you out in starting to make income in cryptocurrencies using POS.   Smiley

I can definely with help from others in handling this community.  With regards to exchanges I believe arcmetal talked about one called yobit which is not too expensive.  We will have to make sure this thread is well moderated and no talk about hard forks or swaps.  This is purely dedicated to and I am just going to say it from now on as ‘Sprouts Classic’.

Thank you all for the support.

Thanks Bastillar!!

I had both Sprouts wallets running on my win10 pc but then the power went out and it wouldn't open both but... just tweeked the .conf file with listen=0 and they are both open... just waiting for it to get connections and I will update later.

I just downloaded the Sprouts wallet source code to get an understanding of it.  Let me see if I can fix the 1 billion error and increase it to, like, 40 billion.  Also I will change it to be Sprouts Classic to be unique and independent from the failed HF wallet.

An explorer would do a better job, but here are some nodes.

I did a peerinfo on my wallet and here is the list I'm connected to.  I've cut and pasted it to look like the contents of a config file:

addnode=113.156.92.102
addnode=103.58.148.33

addnode=173.17.45.173
addnode=202.183.247.51
addnode=119.59.115.147

and here is a copy of my current sprouts.conf file, although I can assume a lot of these nodes are dead.

Godaddy is having issues right now but I think it should be up by tomorrow hopefully. I'll try to get it the process started tonight though since i have the domain and server already bought. I'll let you know when it's ready with the link

I just downloaded the Sprouts wallet source code to get an understanding of it.  Let me see if I can fix the 1 billion error and increase it to, like, 40 billion.  Also I will change it to be Sprouts Classic to be unique and independent from the failed HF wallet.
The 2 billion error may be an easy fix, but the problems come in when you try to re-compile since a lot of the libraries are old, and there is a bit of hacking to get them to match up to the old sprouts code.

If you go to "main.h" the lines to change to fix this are there, and they look like this:

/** No amount larger than this (in satoshi) is valid */
static const int64 MAX_MONEY = 2000000000 * COIN;
static const int64 MAX_MONEY_2 = 40000000000 * COIN;

The old line that sets the max to 2 billion is the the MAX_MONEY is what is causing the errors.
The second line fixes it to 40 billion.  Of course, anywhere in the code that says "MAX_MONEY" will need to be replaced with "MAX_MONEY_2".

I stripped this from the sproutsHF's code.  This is their fix, maybe an easier, but riskier fix, would be to simply change the value of MAX_MONEY to 40 billion.  The effects of fixing it this way would be unknown. Smiley

Hi arcmetal,

Would you be able to re-compile the Sprouts Classic wallet to have it go MAX_MONEY to 100 billion?  From your response you already have the experience in the compilation.  Also, if there is mention of Sprouts in the code to amend it with Classic?  Let me know.

Hi arcmetal,

I would like to try, since a few months ago I was able to compile bitcoin for linux from source, but I have yet to try a windows compile.  I did have plans to try and compile a version of sprouts.  So I don't mind tinkering with this.

Although, I'll be on a beach AFK for the last two weeks of August, and I'm gearing up for that trip now.  I may not get to seriously try anything until Sept, but sprouts has been running just fine for a few years, a couple more months may not make much difference.

I don't even know if the changes to the code you'd like to see will make for a soft fork or a hard fork.

Also, if there is mention of Sprouts in the code to amend it with Classic?  Let me know.
This would require further study.

About a year ago I had written up directions on how to get this version of a sprouts wallet up and running on a windows PC.  Here is that link: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1798901.msg19720939#msg19720939
-----------
And here is the github post I found with the latest version of the sprouts code (I'm not sure of its exact version, but it may be: v0.1.2.2-gd0cbc83 )
https://github.com/gjhiggins/sprouts

He also lists instructions for compiling.

May I suggest that making changes to the sprouts code now may not be the best thing to do at this time, but rather, getting sprouts back up and running as a regular coin should be the current focus.  That is, get it onto exchanges, get an explorer running, maybe its own website, get onto coinmarketcap, etc.  ... After these things are up and working, maybe then it can be ok to mess with its source code. (like fixing the MAX_MONEY problem, but leaving everything else the same, keeping it as a "sprouts classic").

This is just a guess, but even after it gets onto an exchanges, I've noticed that exchanges don't like so many changes to a wallet so frequently, so a modification to the sprouts wallet would have to wait at least 3 or 4 months after it gets onto an exchange.
