first thing that gets my attention is the thread age, so it looks like old news and I was tempted to not read it and close the tab. for me it was uncertain, this topic was covering more than a single event.
the subject says NEWS, but the date says 'posted on: February 23, 2014, 07:51:51 PM'.

I'd either clarify the continuous nature of the topic by altering the subject to 'Official Gridcoin Boinc Milestone Thread', as you have done on twitter, and maintain OP as index with an explanation to set our scientific contributions in context, or open a new thread for each occasion.

When GRC makes it to the top 10 BOINC contributors, it will get a lot of media attention and influx of new miners.
