This kind of problem is exactly what the PGP "web of trust" attempts to solve.
Perhaps that technology could be reused - people who wish to join the web of trust can publish a PGP/GPG key and every person who successfully trades with him or her can sign it.

I'm currently waiting for mail to come from The MadHatter/Bitcoin4Cash. A follow up to come! And with a picture of a nice souvenir.  The service was absolutely fantastic! did a few trades with sabbers and he seemed to be, so ... I loaned bitcoins to Sabbers, and he paid them back promptly.
i loaned him some too (again), he didn't pay them back within a week (his words), actually he didnt't pay them back at all yet and didn't show up at all since. so i'm not actually sure i can second the good trader part, i guess i can call it a loss. i wouldn't recommend to trust him. update: finally (about a week late) at least a reaction, no payment received yet. update: first he said within a week and didn't show up within 2, then he said within 1-2days and didn't show up in 6. don't take sabbers words for real. i'll just give him a few more days before i add him to the list of scammers. update: http://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=483.msg11875#msg11875 |
