There's a huge 404 at the top of the forbes page, but if you scroll down, the text of the article is there ( no images ).

Can someone clarify something for me?

Why is he running tests at a whopping 200 hashrate?

Nobody really cares about how it performs at such an irrelevant speed.   Most people want 600-700 ... no information on that?  And pricing?

Nobody is going to go buy a $60 card that hashes at 120...

If you would have read the article it told you that the big cards based on this architecture are coming.

If the scaling holds up to the high end then there can only be one answer. High End Maxwell GTX Geforce GPUs will give higher hash rates than their Radeon Counterparts while consuming less power and staying cooler (the 750 ti in question here never crossed 60c with or without OC).

I guess it doesn't really come out and say it, but it is inferred.

If you aren't the sole controller of your private keys, you don't have any bitcoins.

If I would have read the article?

Obviously I did if I quoted it.

My statement still stands.  The information he *did* present is not helpful.

A card that hashes at 200-something costs $170-something.

Okay so ... we are left to guess what the price will be on a card that actually matters I suppose.

Also ... weren't these 280x's (which hash at 700) something like $200 retail before the price boom?

How is a card that only hashes 200-something costing $170 a good deal?

You'll have to wait until the high end cards are released by nVidia.

you have to consider that the 210k card only uses 60 watts allegedly. So 600 watts for 2.1MH. Which is pretty good in terms of power. 21 MH at 6kw +- I am looking forward to see the high end and their consumption / cost

so 11 cards and 3 motherboards + components to match 4 280x cards + 1 motherboard and components...
Nvidia wins out by saving a whopping 250w of power in the long run (huge number - sarcasm), and costs $1000+ more to set up... Clearly a winner

A hypothetical Nvidia 870 with  700 khs and only 120/150w peak power consumption will be a gamechanger indeed.

Seriously, that is an incredibly efficient mining/watt figure. In fact, he was able to overclock that card to get almost 285 Kh/s for a power draw of around 75W (that's nearly 4Kh/W)! I wouldn't be surprised with significantly improved numbers for more powerful cards. And let's not forget, the 750 Ti doesn't need a PCI-e power connector!

I might actually pull out some of my older desktops and get a few of these cards!

+1 thats what I am waiting for. That would be big/
10 cards with associated periphery is obviously not the answer.

Me too. I-m gonna sell at least 3 of my 280x and buy "870s" as soon as they hit the market. Hopefully a relatively unexpensive upgrade..

I'm waiting for those 860 and 870's too, but nobody forces me to max out my ATI cards hashrate, supply whatever voltage that speed requires, and then complain it is not power efficient.

Someone managed to pull  3.8 Kh /W at 0.9V out of a XFX 7970, I'm following his progress.

The only thing they're going to steal is the money of morons...

So I should go and pre order some stuff from butterfly labs etc instead right ?

Personally I would love it if a real company would get in on the mining hardware supply so I could actually buy something in stock and get to mining right away instead of waiting and waiting and wait wtf do you mean its actually still a prototype!!? as the months slip on by.
