What everyone thinks about buying & selling merits and ranked accounts ?

We're seeing that some people are giving merits in exchange of money
and some people are also selling their ranked accounts for a good amount
of money openly by advertising.
I would like to hear what everyone thinks about these things and how to
deal with it.

I used to take the time to get an upgrade. Now I am writing an article and I like it. Get an upgrade. It’s not good news for people who come to this forum late. Just like the encryption industry. People who come in late are losing money.

Wow you really should have just searched or read a thread in the last few pages.

Buying and selling Merit, is Merit abuse. At this point in time it isn't being tagged or punished, but people are still keeping track and should public opinion change their accounts will suffer. On the flip side of that Merit does not affect how you can use this Forum. You can post, learn, interact just fine without Merit. The only people crying about it want to earn a living here, by joining any SIG campaign they can; in short not here because of BTC but to earn BTC.

I disagree with account sales because you are essentially pretending to be someone else and this can have far reaching consequences, in trades or sales. Selling Merit or trading Merit is stupid, and if caught makes you look like an idiot who couldn't put a decent post together. Selling it whatever your an opportunist that doesn't care about cleaning up the forum, nothing I can do about that.

We already seen this kind of case about the merit system many times.
The only thing we could do is to report those accounts.

I think you also know what greed is, right? The characteristic of being Impatient means they want to earn really fast without walking in the right path of process.

Yes agreed report away so they can potentially be tagged in the future.

Neither of these offences is currently against the rules, but is discouraged. This will result in a red tag from DT, and rightly so.

Both isn't moderated by forum. If you find similar case you can post a thread on Reputation board. So DT will taged them if you can post with solid proof. Corruption can't stop, but we can reduce by reporting. Account sale is allowed by forum but strongly discourage. And DT member's not like to trade account. Please pointed them if you find any case like this.

Accounts and merits trading is prohibited. If you see any cases like that with proofs, creating a new thread in Reputation to report them. There will be appropriate punishment for them.

I strongly oppose these things too that's why i wanted to know how the majority thinks
and i really didn't know there is a Reputationthread for this before
so i just posted :p .

And talking about those accounts , today i saw someone posted to sell his 10 accounts and
he has big negative trusts too. I wanted to  report his profile but didn't know about
these features , I would not hesitate next time.  :p

I think buying accounts is a waste of money. you need to be able to maintain the style and quality of the original owner to preserve its value, and if you have the ability to do that, then you might as well create a legitimate account. The other danger is that you buy a stolen account, and in that case, you lose your money. There is also a fraud going on where an owner sells his account, and then claims it was hacked and demands that the mods retrieve it for him.

All in all, buying accounts seems to be a risky and unwise action.

I've got couple suggestions to buy my profile since the merit system involved. I understand that nowadays it's hard to rank up on the forum, but I do not plan to sell, course of if I sell I will come back on the forum in any way and this time I will have to start from the most beginning my own.
