Is there any internet speed requirement for mining purpose?

Is 1Mbps (128 kBytes/s) enough?
Is 10Mbps (1.25 kBytes/s) better or needless?

Thanks!
I am planning to build my first rig

Each block is stacked on top of the previous one. Adding another block to the top makes all lower blocks more difficult to remove: there is more "weight" above each block. A transaction in a block 6 blocks deep (6 confirmations) will be very difficult to remove.

But if you are planning to use remote desktop then you need good bandwith.

mining on 600khps scrypt uses very little bandwidth, probably 56k -128k connection will suffice

I ran 60 miners off a bridged wireless B connection for 1 month back in 2012 before stratum, bandwidth requirements are minimal, but low latency is helpful in preventing stales.

Is there any internet speed requirement for mining purpose?

Is 10Mbps (1.25 kBytes/s) better or needless?

Thanks!

Bitcoin mining is based on GPU, not internet speed.
It uses a tiny 1kb/minute or something like that.

Thanks a lot for this post. before that I was thinking it is directly proportional to the  internet speed.

To give you an idea of bandwidth required, for Jan 2014, every 1 Th/s of mining equaled 5.21 kbps inbound and 4.41 kbps outbound.  Very, very small in terms of internet traffic. Each cabinet I have has 10mbps and I come nowhere even near it.

He was saying that Bitcoin is no longer mined (effectively) on a GPU.  Make that Asics.

I use TimeWarner cable with 30mbits/second down and 1mbit/second up.  I'm mining at 1,100 kKash/second.  I also watch movies on Netflix and use Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) into a work computer 24 hours a day.  And my internet doesn't miss a beat!  In other words, mining seems to require very little network throughput.

speed does not matter as much as latency.  running off wifi can add some extra latency to your connection, as well as the pool server you are connected to.

Latency actually matters ALOT. I was mining for a while on some altcoin pool. I got a whole bunch of stale's and it was because I had latency of 300ms.

That's pretty bad lag.  I mined for a short while off a wireless bridge-->router-->wireless adapter which is 2 wireless hops and I still has less than 1% stales mining BTC.

I'm running dozens of miners (5.8TH at the moment) and see about 80kbps outbound through my WAN.
