I don't see dates when this article was published. Generally, cryptocurrency users are glad to have companies on board but with this type of market, these kind of news will just be ignored. Even if you announce google finally release the token of their own yet the price of the crypto isn't making a climb, that kind of news will just be a trash. If GE news is true though then good luck to them.

GE is one of the participants in the series of fund raising for X age, a cyber-security start up. They saw big potential in block chain technology. They use the block chain technology to connect the industrial devices in IoT in a more secured manner. GE’s R&D department is also using block chain technology to connect consumers with renewable energy producers.

Actually, the referenced linked post (not the OP) is plagiarized with minute changes from this article written on the 24th of July 2018 on cnn.com: https://www.ccn.com/126-year-old-general-electric-ge-invests-in-blockchain-cybersecurity-startup. No wonder the above link is neither dated nor referenced. As to the news itself, any corporation that can afford it invests in I+D, and blockchain technology is one of those areas to be on the lookout for and needs to be understood and tried, even if it is to ensure that no others gain a quick competitive use through it, and in the hope of doing it themselves if the opportunity arises.

Having this kind of large company is one form of blessing for this crypto currency market. Perhaps they didn't share this officially in any of there reliable source. As IBM if they also join it will be great because of the acceptance this market will expand.

Hopefully, adopting blockchain technology will give GE some advantage over their competitors and also make others in the industry opt for choosing blockchain to gain competitive advantage in the market. In return blockchain will see a mass adoption among such giants.

It is a welcomed development. But I would have preferred that they invest in an existing blockchain rather develop a new one specific to it's operation.

This is really a good step by the general electric. This is a giant electronics company and its investment in this technology will really add value to the whole system. This proves that world is understanding the importance of this technology.

The more prominent and reliable link is below, https://www.ccn.com/126-year-old-general-electric-ge-invests-in-blockchain-cybersecurity-startup/Adoption of crypto by big companies is good for future. Hope others will also follow. Check the above link and understand the adoption idea. They are not adopting cryptos in any way, they are adopting blockchain technology in the areas of cyber security and one of the subsidiaries of GE is adopting blockchain in Freight transport sector. I don't see any mention of cryptos here. It is adoption of technology for better operating efficiency and transparency for the corporation.

Yeah there's a big difference between blockchain and crypto. Blockchain is simply the technology that crypto uses to make transactions. Just because a company uses it doesn't mean that it has any relevance to bitcoin. In fact, blockchain has many more applications than just transferring money around. It was just made famous through bitcoin, so famous in fact that some people use it as a nickname for bitcoin when it really isn't the same. It's like saying that a BMW is a "motor".

the innovation in technology has given enough space for many industries to showcase what new ideas they have and also created room for them to bea part of the technology by adopting the blockchain framework and paradigm.

Blockchain this Blockchain that, sure i guess it's okay due to helping spread awareness of use and trust in how Bitcoin works but it doesn't do much else for Bitcoin.
I agree. Using blockchain technology to secure your data won't do anything for cryptocurrencies and companies are doing their best to separate blockchain and bitcoin. It's always the same boring narrative. Do you guys invest in cryptocurrencies? No we don't care about those internet money all we care about is blockchain. Virtual money is for anarchists and drug dealers!

Part of General Electric's Global Research team in Niskayuna, New York, Ben Beckmann and a small team are investigating how blockchain could figure into General Electric global operations.
As blockchain is riding an immense hype wave in cryptocurrencies technology and reforming the GIG economy, General Electric is building entire team and migrating it's services to unravel these potentials. .

General Electric are a vaporware company, I don't think they have even gotten anywhere close to achieving all the things they said they would with their electric cars, pretty much best to just assume that this news is vaporware too as nothing will come of it.

Why not? You can to remember that they need to tailor made blockchain to their operation. And this blockchain is not public so this sort of news doesn't bring any impact in the crypto sphere specially bitcoin. But then again, others can't distinguish what bitcoin and blockchain is, they are totally different. So if you here, this company is adopting blockchain, it doesn't mean that they are accepting or embracing crypto just to be clear.
