Many Thanks Rimba for your report from CEBE.

I was planning to visit myself but couldn't make it.

Mining ASICS Technologies has made a very bold statement and what they offer falls squarely under the "too good to be true" category.

I find it really unbelievable that they went through all this trouble to show a box just standing there.

Didn't they show any ASICs from their partner, any brochures with technical details on their products, not even turning on the prototype?
To deliver something like this by July you can't possibly be at a stage where your prototypes don't even function!!

I'd love to hear more from Mining Tech - bold claims need bold followup!

jjj, I've been looking around for prices.
The next best thing (in terms of prices of course - nobody has seen products to factor in quality) is the alpha technologies Viper miner selling at 5.540 GBP (about 6.700 EU).
This translates to 27 Euro / MHs for a single Viper unit at 250MHs.
I may be missing some new competitor, of course, but the Excalibur offer comes at 22 Euro/MHs with the added benefit of getting TWO units so you can split mine or lower the risk of a single unit malfunction.
This to me is "too good to be true" and the reason why I wanted to visit Mining ASICs at CEBE.

This to me is "too good to be true" and the reason why I wanted to visit Mining ASICs at CEBE.

A little background. I've been following these guys closely since they first made their announcement.

After doing a lot of due diligence of the individuals involved in the company before I decided to get in early and pre order a 125 MH unit.

About two weeks after I made my pre-order KNC announced they would be doubling their hash rates.

Mining-asics responded with a 2 for 1 promotion.

for me it all boils down to hash/$ and at $44/MH with their 2 x 125 offer it's simply incredible.

I know prices will continue to fall but we have yet to break the $100/MH barrier so waiting till the end of July or beginning of August is something I can live with at those prices.

besides - I'm already working with 164/mh right now.

I've had numerous conversations with Marc from Mining Asics and he has shared development progress with me and also how long it takes for certain things to happen development and manufacturing wise. I'm not a spring chicken and over the years I think I've become a fairly astute judge of character and I'm confident they'll deliver a quality product. In summary he's been totally transparent except in certain instances where an NDA prohibited him.

So - now I'm getting two 125MH units for the price of one. As it relates to "too good to be true" I'm not sure what you refer to to... 125 MH in a box (easily attainable since the Chinese are already pushing 90mh with Insilicon chips - I know I own an 85 MH unit) or the two for one promotion?

regardless - I know that KNC is their primary competitor in this arean right now although there's a british company that says they'll have a 250 MH unit out in July.

Personally - I do NOT WANT a 250mh asic miner. a 250 MH unit limits you to either dodge or ltc - no other coins can handle that kind of hash. I like to mine to new releases and the last thing you want to do is cripple you own ability to mine by blowing up network hash and attracting a lot of attention from multi-pools.

the entire concept of men with proven business backgrounds going to lengths like this to scam people is preposterous in my mind...especially when I know they're working on their miners and will deliver in the time frame promised. I know their schedules and what's to be done - because they've shared it all with me in conversations.

but - hey - we all make our own decisions and the best we can do if get a comfort level we can live with. I think choosing Minin asics over KNC was the right choice for me personally.

Exactly like you say it, "for me it all boils down to hash/$ and at $44/MH with their 2 x 125 offer it's simply incredible." Which means difficult to believe in, too good to be true.
Don't get me wrong: I'm enthusiastic about their offer and I appreciate that Marc has offered a lot of info about himself and the company.
I also absolutely agree with you about the HUGE benefit of getting 2X125 MHs instead of a single 250 MHs unit for the reasons you describe.

But since 5.000 Euro is not a trivial amount for me and since in this industry timing is everything, I really expected Marc to show a working prototype at the exhibition / conference.

I work in a humble, down to earth Electronics Cash Register manufacturer and we have fully working prototypes of new models to test a full 3-4 months before production. And our units work with humble, off-the-self components like ARM Cortex 3 microcontrollers, nothing special or custom made. So not showing off a working prototype 1-2 months before delivery is a red flag.

so...... i was there. it was in fact a stand from them with a "bit coin miner prototype" it was not on and you cannot test it, of course they didn't have any script prototype and to be honest the guy there didn't seem to know much about the product. he said the first batch will be delivered on july and still they don't have a machine to show or test..... and they have this  "offer" buy 1 and get 2 of the 250Mhz machines....

i don't know all looked fishy to me....

I agree - spend a bunch of money to get a booth at a show and dummy up some bx just to rip people off...

LOL

I'm not saying it's fake or real but operating under the assumption that people won't go through extraordinary effort to run a scam is ignorant.

LOL

You do realize they would only need to sell like 1 machine to cover the costs of a booth + an empty server case right?

Maybe you are the one who needs to get your head out of the sand.

It makes no sense that a they would spend millions to bring this asic to life yet are incapable of showing anyone a prototype that has been working for weeks now.

Hi Zeta0S

This is Marc, CEO of Mining Asics Technologies. Thanks for the great Pictures, but they are from the 7th floor and we are on the ground floor....but no worries, our Office is even nicer....I would like to invite you to our Office and I will Show you personally our bitcoin miners, so you can update the Forum afterwards.

We will attend the Bitcoin Event in Vienna this Weekend, so we can make an appointment somewhere next week. Please let me know when you will come so we can schedule some time!

Please send an email to info@mining-asics-technologies.com, mention that we have agreed on an appointment next week, so my Team can schedule it for us.

With kind regards,

Marc Coumans
CEO
MAT

@ma@mat

I asked in another thread but received no answer, so will ask again here:

You supposedly go to the trouble of developing bitcoin asics yet only provide one short, relatively useless, video as proof.

Why not spend an extra 10 minutes to make some better videos including some screens of cgminer or something that actually shows hashrate and not just some random piece of hardware?

I just cannot understand why you would not make this small effort to prove you are a legitimate asic company.

And why not answer peoples questions and concerns here on the forum?

MAT persists in ignoring peoples queries, including mine above which I think is a very reasonable request.

This is a huge red flag for me and shows either they are a scam and are trying to string this along and catch a few orders or they just don't care about customers! Either way not the sort of company I will be gambling with - thanks.

LOL - many actually!

Skepticism is a philosophy that was originally thought out by an Ancient Greek called Pyrrhon, and it is essentially about refusing all dogmas and suspending one's judgements. With skepticism, doubt becomes an end in itself. It also has a reputation of perceiving Truth as something unattainable.

But pushed to the limit, skepticism is contradictory.

If everything is to be doubted, then I have to doubt that I am doubting.
I can't even affirm that everything is doubtful, because if it is, then it is doubtful that everything is doubtful.

This attitude autodestructs itself. Skepticism is a vicious circle that one gets lost in.

LOL - I absolutely agree with you

but aren't we all calculated risk takers?

All it takes is for BTC go to back down to under $100 and all of our mining equipment plummets in value right along with it...along with our investments
