The Bitcoin software, network, and concept is called "Bitcoin" with a capitalized "B". Bitcoin currency units are called "bitcoins" with a lowercase "b" -- this is often abbreviated BTC.

Current devs abandoned the coin, and I'd be happy to see SUN taken over. But why would anyone do this?

Why would this need an active developer?

  • Source code is still available
  • Blockchain is working fine
  • No current issues with the wallet

Because nobody will buy an abandoned coin that has nothing special behind.

Excellent point, but what does the developer have to do with creating something 'special'?  Isn't that the responsibility of the users and supporters?
I don't mean to single you out, it's just that I hear the same story over and over for several coins where the 'developer' has disappeared.  My point is, the developer can't be expected to do everything.

BTW, in the case of SUNCoin, I would hardly call the OP a developer.

Why not come up with some ideas on how we can make SUNCoin useful?  Anyone here good at designing games? Programming in JavaScript, PHP, HTML5?

I think we have the same vision, but use different words to describe it. Yes, "the developer" can't do everything, but he have to provide security updates (is Heartbleed bug fixed here?), listen to the community and show us that he cares about his creation, and not run away Smiley

If people see no one behind the coin, they'll hardly do anything, someone should take responsibility to be the leader. Then new ideas from the community may come.

I think I'll be able to help with the site if someone takes this coin over.

Can someone setup a block explorer for this?
I want to see whether or not this has been spent

This is the genesis transaction as stated per the original announcement:

A transaction was added to the Genesis block for 1% of the total coins and is to be used for promotion, bounties and giveaways.
