They didn't just become insolvent... They've been insolvent since their USD bank accounts were appropriated by the FBI; they've been surviving by selling coins on other exchanges to cover operating expenses.

why would you buy a domain name in the same few days you apparently become insolvent?

They still think they can come back, rebranded and customers are stupid enough to get goxxed a fourth (or is it fifth or sixth) time.

They won't be MtGox .... they will be Gox the new Bitcoin super exchange. Ready to sign up?

It's worked for them so far and it works for the dark markets.  You can't really blame them for believing that greed will over-ride common-sense when that's been their experience of Bitcoin users so far (people have continued depositing funds to MtGox even after withdrawals were halted, FFS).

All I can say is that this is Bitcoin. I don't believe it until I see six confirmations.

The worst part is if they are insolvent they just spend god knows how much of depositors money on that domain name.

That's the thing I don't get. If it's too good to be true, it probably is. When all the other exchanges are trading >500, there must obviously be a reason mtgox is < 200 - a reason which we all now know.

Exactly... they're just digging a deeper hole for themselves because their future business model is not going to succeed.

FUD

gox was registered using godaddy by a domain parker (now known under formal titles as domain investors.) if mtgox did buy it from the investor then it would contain kalyhost information.

seriously people are trying to create FUD as a game to see if they can get it into mainstream media. please will everyone start researching before posting

I DO NOT TRADE OR ACT AS ESCROW ON THIS FORUM EVER.

The worst part is if they are insolvent they just spend god knows how much of depositors money on that domain name.

Agreed. That's a nice three letter .com domain and can't have been cheap.

Seems like really bad timing to me. Unless of course they actually still do hold all the funds and just need to sort themselves out and re-launch a more secure site. The chance of that seems pretty slim now though...
