So you mean you print your message onto those $1 bills in red paint, and then banks still need to accept them?

Interesting colour choice. I really don't care if the rich of the 21st century are richer than those of the 1960s, as long as the middle and lower class is also getting richer. The protesters should focus on things that promote the wealth polarisation: competition for employment, cost of education, tax burden on the lower classes, etc.

Focusing on the polarisation itself is wrong because the solution suggested is the good old egalitarian "kill the rich!". So a bunch of people are working their asses off and get rich, while you are standing around protesting of how poor you are ? Well, fuck you sir.

As it stands, this is simply red propaganda.

At least in the USA it is a crime to intentionally deface currency, although I have squished many a penny at our fine museums.

my dreams are about to become reality, long time ago i did talk to some friends about marking euro bills  w/ our city name and kinda make our own local euro, now some ows use this on 1$ bills - i hope they use real money if they dont they are stupid- and this can be awesome because if banks dont accept this bills you kinda make a parallel currency, just normal need to accept this bills Grin -again must be real 1$ bills so will have some value to the average joe- if banks accept this bills well this is awesome for propaganda for ows

... so you mean you didn't notice this is CGI?

Lifecycle:  Deface some currency; give it to someone; they spend it at the grocery store; store deposits it at their bank; bank sorts it into the "damaged" pile; the notes go home, get shredded, and are replaced with crisp new ones; life goes on.

It's just paper.

What about writing it so small it's barely noticeable and doing it on a large scale ?

Totally unrelated.
It is about tracking bills by serial number not tampering them.

Related.  Where's George bills get the URL written on them so that future holders will visit the site.  It's a small marking done on a relatively large scale, and their site gives you a pretty good sense of how long such lightly-modified bills stay in circulation and how often someone cares enough to actually pay attention to something written on their money.

it isn't a crime to deface a bill or squish a penny unless there is fraudulent intent such as adding two zeros to make a $1 look like a $100, or possibly blacking out the serial number so it can't be reissued.

As long as banks can read the serial number they have to accept the cash.

and what's the deal with 400+150m not adding up to 300+m?

Hmm, what's wrong with a diagnosis. I for one, would not like my doctor to treat me, if he did not check what was wrong with me first. After that we can talk about probable causes and treatment options.

I suspect doing in a systematic fashion could get you arrested. No idea for what but recent developments (liberty dollar) they always come up with something...

Without going and digging through a bunch of statistics, they are likely refering to the number of 'employable' Americans. I.e., of work age, legal status, not disabled, not retired, etc...  Whether it is accurate or not, that's another question. It looks about right though.

edit; fixed the usual typos and grammatical errors.

If you're not excited by the idea of being an early adopter 'now', then you should come back in three or four years and either tell us "Told you it'd never work!" or join what should, by then, be a much more stable and easier-to-use system.
