It looks like mtgox.com is down and only a blank page with this in the source: <!-- put announce for mtgox acq here --> What could that mean? Mt Gox acquisition announcement?

In the event of recent news reports and the potential repercussions on MtGox's operations and the market, a decision was taken to close all transactions for the time being in order to protect the site and our users. We will be closely monitoring the situation and will react accordingly.

Does this mean the Financial Services Agency (Japan) has closed them down? They are 2 weeks too late if their intention was to protect their users.

Did they only just realize that they might be pulling the price down?!?!?! GENIUS!!! yes, they are geniuses, they want values to tank so that when they do close their doors they could point to the fiat value of the coin and say: "that's what I owe". additionally, they are sending out many statements implying that many coins were stolen from them.

I haven't seen this yet. Can you provide a link? sorry, I don't have any links I tend not to keep track of stuff that I believe to be unreliable if you see a thread title: Gox lost 750,000 btc, or gox hacked for $2 billion worth of btc, or things like that it will bring you to the links

There are no statements put out by MtGox at that link. There are only rumors, guesses, and a document released by some guy named Ryan Galt. Armis claimed that MtGox is sending out statements implying that many coins were stolen from MtGox. I have not seen any such statements from MtGox. I suspect that Armis is mistaken and needs to be more careful about the sources of the information that he thinks he is seeing. Are there any links available to statements released to the public by MtGox claiming that many coins were stolen from MtGox? (I'm not saying that it didn't happen or that the document released by Mr. Galt isn't real, just that Armis' claim that "they are sending out many statements implying that many coins were stolen from them" is not accurate, and that the possibility exists that the document released by Mr. Galt might be a fake).

This came out since yesterday so it doesn't prove that there was info out when Armis claimed there was, but I think it shows there was a lot of truth in the rumors: http://www.coindesk.com/mt-gox-ceo-says-leaked-documents-less-legit/and with what's being coming out since, it looks like my OP about an acquisition might have been bang on
