What is DEFACTO?

DEFACTO delivers a voting and polling solution on the blockchain to create a ‘Better World Through Fair Voting’. Until now traditional voting has been fundamentally flawed due to lack of transparency and being centralised as a process and system.

The innovative DEFACTO structure addresses key issues with the way in which voting currently takes place and coordinates activities on the blockchain on a bespoke crypto platform. This whitepaper seeks to detail the specific items and activities which DEFACTO will action in order to achieve these goals. DEFACTO also offers public and private transactions across the platform and a Proof of Stake (POS) reward system for network participants.

The primary purpose of DEFACTO is to facilitate truly Private transactions and fair Polling on the blockchain, whilst rewarding users through a generous Proof of Stake system.

The DEFACTO community created the idea for DEFACTO in late 2017. The goal of DEFACTO is to provide a secure, incentivised blockchain voting platform and digital asset class.

The DEFACTO Project comprises 4 founding members and a diverse volunteer group of members who work together to achieve our common goal of a bespoke blockchain platform. Please contact us if you’re crazy for crypto and interested in joining our team.

Our development team all utilise best coding practices and are fully vetted to ensure the highest level of commitment to the project.

We are always appreciative to new members so please get in contact with us if you believe you can contribute as a developer, tester, admin or moderator, marketing specialist, adviser.

Why DEFACTO?

DEFACTO is a Proof of Stake (POS) Privacy & Polling Digital Asset.

Proof of Stake (POS): You will accrue annual profits and compound interest using our Proof of Stake (POS) system. Generous rewards in place for nodes who stake their DEFACTO coins.

Privacy: You can choose to remain anonymous on the blockchain with our bespoke ‘Spectre Protocol’ which incorporates the latest blockchain security features.

Polling & Rewards: Submit your opinions and propose items to be polled on our decentralised dynamic voting system cast as an immutable ledger on our bespoke blockchain platform. Get rewarded for your efforts and contributions to the platform and product.

DEFACTO is truly decentralised and borderless to allow users to propose and cast votes which will help to define policies and shape the society in which we live. Record your views forever and ask other users their views and opinions. Vote on ‘Hot Topics’, Commission Polls for your organisation or ask the community anything.

Hello Team,

If you don't want to be confused with a scam, we do recommend you to provide valid images of your team instead of those silly cartoons posted on your website, team section.
Also, all links provided of your team members to LINKEDIN is broken. It redirects to your company profile on Linkedin, which contains just 1 employee. What happened to the rest of the team?

Hello ICO Ethics,

Many thanks for your feedback, we listen carefully to our community and do strive for quality.

The intention for avatars was carefully considered as numerous other crypto projects have gone this route, however we want our community to have 100% visibility of our team and as such have updated all team member profiles on the main site.

As you will appreciate we are very much in the infancy of our product development lifecycle and have been concentrating on creating a demo product and completing all the logistics involved in putting together the project.

We'd like to stress that our vision to provide rewarded, borderless voting on a custom blockchain is no scam and we are in the crypto space to stay.

If you have further feedback we'd love to hear it.

Thanks,

Can you please further elaborate about your platform? As I can see, your demo product can be used on polls but is it limited only on that? Can the demo product be used on nationwide voting in the future as well(on democratic countries)? Also, what makes it different from online poll platforms if some of them already offers anonymous voting without the need of blockchain implementation?

Also, what makes it different from online poll platforms if some of them already offers anonymous voting without the need of blockchain implementation?

Hi,

Many thanks for your post.

As many projects begin with no actual product we made the decision to develop a base demo product from the launch of our ICO to give users the ability to vote and add questions to be voted on.

Currently the voting product can be used to;

1.) Vote
2.) Post questions to be voted on
3.) Comment on your own votes and others votes
4.) Share comments and specifc questions on twitter
5.) Manage a basic online account

As I can see, your demo product can be used on polls but is it limited only on that?

In it's current form the voting site is limited to polls but we can utilise the voting functionality for community members to vote on the direction the project takes. For example, voting on would users like an Android App first or iOS app first. This allows community members to shape the project without it being controlled by a small number of people.

The types of polls are also important;

1.) Companies can commission polls to ask the community for their opinion on for example new products they plan to launch.
2.) Governments can use the polls to complete opinion polls which could be used to base laws on or take decisions. For example, should the UK leave Europe?
3.) Individuals can create questions which are fun to vote on. For example, Who is your favourite singer?
4.) DeFacto Development can be voted on. For example, do we list on Kucoin or Binance?

Can the demo product be used on nationwide voting in the future as well(on democratic countries)?

Yes, exactly. The main goal of the voting is to create 'Borderless Voting'. For example, if 3 million from all over the world voted Yes to Should we ban all consumer supermarket plastics then it is clear the community wants to ban plastic. A country for example Spain then recognises this outcome and makes it law. The UK then recognises Spain has adopted this stance and also adopts it. So so summarize a key goal is for serious matters voted on in our poll to be adopted by governments. Even if a country is non-democratic it still has the ability to enforce decisions and so in the example listed non-democratic countries also have the potential to adopt the voting outcomes from polls.

Whilst individual polls can be fun and company polling is a revenue stream for us the end goal is to use the 'big data' gathered to shape law.

Also, what makes it different from online poll platforms if some of them already offers anonymous voting without the need of blockchain implementation?

Another great question and fundamental principle to the project!

Currently, voting takes place in a very traditional sense whereby you would physically vote or vote online. Beyond the point where you vote you are in many ways trusting the vote to be correctly counted and allocated to the decision you made. This is a fundamentally flawed process as it is open to errors, is not transparent and can be easily corrupted.

Blockchain solves these traditional issues by recording your voting decision and/or question on the blockchain. In our case a custom platform will be created purely to record this voting information. This data is forever imprinted on the chain and will be viewable by anyone therefore is transparent and fair. You will note our mission statement 'A Better World Through Fair Voting'

The key issue to creating a fair system is to ensure that each vote submitted is unique and the user identity is anonymous to the public.

We will implement a protocol which is called 'Spectre' whereby a user can choose to make the vote data public or private on the chain and they will also be able to perform this function for sending DeFacto coins (on main net) to create a privacy coin element where there is flexibility to transact publicly or privately.

We will also offer Proof Of Stake (POS v3) functionality to reward users for staking DeFacto Coins (on main net) so for this a blockchain is needed.

To summarise,

1.) Users are validated as unique users to ensure no double voting.
2.) Users can vote privately or publicly. For example, a government vote is private but a fun vote on the site is public.
3.) Users can send coins privately or publicly. For example, I can send you coins with the transaction shown in our block explorer or anonymously.
4.) Users can be rewarded for holding DeFacto coins through a POS system.

DeFacto offers essentially 3 main functions;

> Voting & Polling
> Rewards via POS
> Privacy Coin Functionality

We hope to make a difference and ultimately shape laws and I hope this overview goes some way to explaining that for you. If you have any further questions please do get back in contact.

Hi,

All of your team profiles on linkedin do not list that they are in any way connected with DEFACTO. This might be viewed as a red flag by some investors since there have been lots of cases of ICOs using linkedin profiles of teammembers unrelated to the ICO.
